Please confirm.** A: Yes, the pictures are not clear and neither are the instructions. The bolts (seen bottom left of your picture) enable you to fix a small platform around the pole and then the cowl which comes apart and simply hooks around the pole and sits on the bolted section. The only difficulty you might experience would be if you pole is very narrow i.e. less than 8mm. One of my poles is round and is 8 mm diameter and the cowl occasionally slides down due to high winds but it is easy to slide it back up and re-tighten the bolts. My wider square pole supports the cowl without a problem. Hope this helps. **Q: how long has this solved the problem for** A: 30 mins. Seriously, watched with interest as a grey squirrel worked its way around the problem. Climbed the pole, but could not pass the baffle. Ran around nearby walls, and finally realised it could leap off a wall onto the pole above the baffle. So I moved the feeder well away from any walls or trees. Again, in less than 30 mins, the squirrels worked out they can leap from the grass past the baffle and onto the pole above. As I noted in my review, at least for grey squirrels, the baffle would need to be placed around 6’ above the ground, and the feeder above that, to have a chance of working. It’s not small, so even if your pole of tall enough, an 18” baffle placed 6’ above the ground, with feeder still higher, is both an eyesore and not very practical. Nice idea in theory, but in effective in practice. **Q: Does this come with a hanging hook to suspend feeder below it?** A: No, it is put onto the pole of a bird feeder to stop squirrels, rats etc getting up to the food on the feeder, it would defeat the object if it had a hook to have food hanging from it **Q: Will this fit a 38mm pole?** A: I've measured the diameter of the hole and find it to be 35mm. In my opinion this baffle will fit no more than 30mm as the sides need to slightly cross over each other for the bent over edges to lock together.
