This is a terrific product: bargain-priced fun and efficiency and design (hence the reference to the Mazda Miata). Some of the details of my new love affair: 1) The entire product is chrome, unlike many showerheads that have black or white or gray plastic on the handle or the arm support. (OK, I know that technically it isn't chrome, because chrome is a metal, and much of this is plastic*. But you know what I mean.) On the face of the showerhead there's a tiny gray ring, but it's so subtle that it's almost invisible. 2) The hose is metal, extremely flexible, and a full 6' long. Many handhelds come with 5' hoses, and that extra 1' does make a difference, especially in a full-size tub. 3) The slot in the bracket that holds the showerhead is oval-shaped, which means the showerhead won't accidentally twist left or right due to the force of the water -- thus getting water all over your bathroom floor. You can still adjust the spray left or right via the ball joint -- but that is relatively stiff, and it won't wander by itself. 4) The spray adjustment is infinitely variable. I.e., instead of definite clicks for preset options decided by the manufacturer (rather than you), the face of this showerhead rotates seamlessly 270° to provide the mix and tingle that you want. E.g., if the fully-counterclockwise position is too forceful for you, just twist the head 10° (or 8° or 13° or whatever) counterclockwise, and it will soften. Twist it fully counterclockwise, you'll get full massage. Twist it back a bit clockwise, and you'll get some regular spray mixed with the massage. This is so obviously superior (imho) to 4 or 5 or 7 presets, it's just laughable. 5) As many others have mentioned, price: This is a great-looking, wonderfully-performing handheld showerhead at 1/2 or 1/4 the price of others out there. I've tried several of those, and this one's better. *PS: It's worth noting that while the showerhead and bracket are plastic, the coupling that screws onto your shower arm is metal -- which is a good thing, because that's the part most likely to crack (usually due to over-enthusiastic tightening).

After one month with otherwise normal water usage, our family of 5 has reduced our average water consumption by more than 25%. According to the water company's site, we used less water last month than any single month in the past several years. Pros: * Cheap (price) * Low water flow (saves money!) * Good water pressure (it does the job) * Detachable (especially useful since you're using less water, place it close to where you need the water) Cons: * Cheap (materials, buy a second as a backup?) The shower head has three connections that need plumber's tape and a bit of tightening before use (being careful not to over-tighten as this thing is made of plastic). The first is the connection to the shower (where you removed your old shower head), the 2nd and 3rd are on both ends of the flexible metal hose. You'll want to wrap the threads clockwise so the tape doesn't unfurl as you tighten the connections. It has an adjustable mount. It's plastic. I wouldn't adjust this often. Set it where it's most like a fixed shower head when hung up and remove the shower head as needed. So far it doesn't leak (I used plumber's tape) and it's not given me any problems. Given how cheap it is and how much it's already saved us on water, I plan to buy a second as a backup for when this eventually fails.

I honestly didn't have high expectations for this shower head, given the price range, but I was pleasantly surprised when I installed it! The unit arrived quickly (yay Prime!) in an unmarked bag, rather than the typical hard-to-open plastic shells found in big-box stores, but it was well wrapped in protective material to prevent damage during shipment. When I took it out of the bag, it felt solid and well built. All parts are chrome plastic, including the connection to the water supply that supports the hand unit. Everything is pre-assembled and just needs to be tightened, which was nice of them and saved a few minutes of my day. I unscrewed my existing shower head and put this one into place, using just hand pressure to tighten all the connections which have gaskets built in to eliminate the need for PTFE tape. I turned it on to try and had a leak-free connection in all areas on the first attempt. The hose is longer than what I have used before and much more flexible, but still seems well made. It's helpful that the hose is more flexible because it hangs freely and does not try to twist the shower head in the holder. The spray adjustment doesn't click into position, but is variable between normal and pulsed massage. Personally, I only normally ever use the regular spray setting, but I did try pulsed massage and the pressure seemed very good but targeted to a small area. This is definitely the best shower head that I have used in my house, exceeding the performance of units I have tried over the years costing 3-5 times as much. I will be replacing the shower head in my other bathroom with this same unit soon.

It amazes me how much of a problem it is to make a hand held shower that is reliable. This product installed easily and did not require much force on the fittings to get a leak free installation. I looked at the plethora of shower heads from Delta and the reviews of these for the most part spendy shower heads highlighted the many problems one can have with such simple things like just hanging the thing up without having it fall on your toes. They do have some models that can accomplish this but not all are easy to use. This shower head hangs up nicely, and has an nice balance between saving water and having enough force to feel good. I think 2.5 gallons a minute per head is the max the government allows and some manufacturers like Delta have found away around this by combining a fixed and handheld that nestle with each having 2.5 gallons or 5 gallons per minute total. This would only be on particular models as some of this type are 2.5 gallons total. I was tempted to go for a more forcefull shower but this one is good enough and saves money on the gas and water and the helps conserve the resources and the enviroment. I spent a summer washing with 2 gallons a day using a homemade solar water heater. A foam cooler with two glass gallon jugs painted black and a plexiglass lid is all you need to make scalding hot water. Compared to that 2 gallons a minute is decadent. The spray pattern on this shower head is not quite wide enough to get both shoulders wet at the same time but I don't mind moving around a little to get rinsed off. If the spray pattern were wider it would not feel as strong so again I feel like they made a good compromise. There is also the focused massage spray that is good for massaging your scalp but doesn't really pound your back into submission. The big bonus with this shower head is the supple metal hose (not stiff plastic made to look like metal like most inexpensive and many much more expensive shower heads use) that comes with it. In the Delta line you have to do alot of research to find out which models have the very flexible metal clad hoses. You will find that they tend to cost upwards of $70. For less than $20 this is a deal. Now about that name (Niagra), I have been to Niagra falls and this shower head does not invoke visions of the pounding water coming off of those falls. I have stood under a geothermal heated water falls at Yellow Stone Park and it did feel great. Now that was a massage. Update: The hose burst after 4 months of use so for that I am revising my rating from 5 to 3 stars. Update: Customer service for Niagra was very good. They sent me a new one promptly after I emailed them a scan of my Amazon receipt. I will update latter on it's longevity. If it doesn't last I will find another hose that will fit it. Update 3/15/2015 My old gas water heater burst about 9 months ago after I replaced the shower head and flooded my basement so when I replaced it I added an expansion tank to the system. The installation required balancing the expansion tank pressure with the water pressure so I purchased an inexpensive gage that screws on to a hose bib or utility sink faucet. My pressure was 120 psi which is probably why the hot water tank did not last longer and also why the hose on the shower faucet was short lived. The new hot water heater recommends not going higher than 85psi. I then installed a pressure reduction valve where the water enters the house and set it to to 80 psi. The shower pressure has dropped some as a result but is still acceptable. I have not had a problem with the hose since I lowered the pressure. Because of the water pressure issue I am now giving the shower head more credit and I am raising the rating to 4 stars. Update 5/20/2016: So the hose burst again and I ordered a new hose from Amazon by Modona and the threaded connector would not screw on but here is the strange part, it did fit on a Aquadyne shower head and the crappy plastic hose from the Aquadyne screws onto the Niagra shower head so apparently the Modona hose is at the tighter end of the thread tolerance and the Niagra head is at the larger end of the thread tolerance and so they do not screw together while the Aquadyne must be in the middle because it works with either hose. So if you get a replacement hose for your Niagra it might not work for this reason.

Let me start off by saying that my stepfather is a plumber and I have seen many different handheld shower heads in my life, from the cheapest to the fanciest. My most recent unit was a high end brand that cost over fifty bucks and it was nowhere near as sweet as this one. It broke and I didn't want to shell out a lot of money on another pricey one considering I wasn't happy with it in the first place. However, I love, LOVE this shower head! Here are reasons why I love this little gem: a) It is light weight - my arm does not get tired from holding it above my head while trying to rinse conditioner out of my hair. b) The water pressure is great - it uses two gallons of water per minute. c) The hose is flexible - the hose is flexible even while cold. My old hose was very stiff until I ran hot water through it. Not the case here! <3 d) Price - This was one of the least expensive and highest rated handheld shower heads on Amazon. Now I know why it got the great ratings. 3) Installation - I put off installing it for a couple days because I wanted my boyfriend to do it, but we had a snow storm and he isn't able to make it. I got impatient and decided to give it a go myself. Wow. It took three minutes and I didn't even read the directions. I can't believe I thought I needed a man to do it for me! It was SO easy! I know I sound like a spokes person for this thing, but I am just THAT impressed. I am also feeling pretty darn good about myself for installing this thing on my own.. even though I think a 2nd grader could do it, too! Don't let the low price confuse you... this is a quality item :)

another update- its been 6 yrs now, still going strong! wish they came in a bronze tone, I need one for the re-decorated bath. I would buy this again! update again: its been almost 4 yrs and these are still installed and working great! I am remodeling and installing brushed chrome fixtures, I Dont want to give these up! I have to see if they come in brushed. great purchase. ok, its been one year, all the shower heads I bought last year are still running perfect! still loving them. nothing broke or clogged and each shower gets used at least once per day. I really love the long flexible cord. helps to clean the other side of the tub wall in shower tubs! as others have said this is not a full metal shower head but its not that cheap either. you do have to hand tighten it, you dont want to crack the plastic parts, but it goes on very easy. I always use the white tape when I put on a new head and this helps to not over tighten too. it hangs very nicely as the cord is metal and very flexible with enough weight to keep it down. the shower sprays out very well I get a nice pressure to it. I like these type shower heads because they make cleaning the shower so easy- you can rinse down the walls with it! this is very handy and I am going to get more for the other showers in the bathtubs. no problems after 6 yrs of use!

I absolutely love this shower head. I originally bought the 1.5gpm version to try to be as water-conserving as possible (water bills are getting expensive in my upstate NY town), but I found the flow just too low. It felt like it took a long time just to get wet at the beginning of the shower. I returned it and got the 2.0gpm version and it was exactly what I was hoping for! The most intense setting is downright prickly, and I love it although I could imagine it being too much for some people with sensitive skin. The spray adjustment is easy and fluid and every setting feels great. The fit and finish are superb. I chose to use my own hose because it's a little more sturdy feeling, but I used the hose that came with it for an apartment I own, and it works fine with no leaks. (My tenant loves it as well, by the way). The holder that comes with it is FABULOUS, giving full range of motion that is smooth, yet also holds tight wherever you place it. It's better than any I've used before. I changed from a 4.5GPM head (i measured), and I am absolutely satisfied. I feel very little difference from the old water waster, and my picky kids didn't even seem to notice the switch. I got two of the chrome ones for twelve bucks a piece, which is an absolute steal for the quality. The price is about double now, and I'd say it's still worth it, although it seems like the price varies a lot around the internet. There are a few different names like "Earth" and "Earth Spa", but I'm fairly certain they are the same having tried both. Also, when I originally had the 1.5GPM, I called the company to ask if there was a flow restrictor I could swap out rather than making the return. The service was prompt and completely knowledgable. No waiting on hold or talking to someone from India walking me through a list of steps. Totally refreshing in these times! Buy it!

We've been using it for two weeks, and are very happy with it. Accurate description, adequate instructions, easy to install. It uses washers for sealing, but I had teflon thread sealing tape on hand, so I also used that on the neck. No leaks anywhere. We are in a new house which had a Moen wall mount shower head, using about 1.2 gallons per minute, according to the flow meter on the water softener. The Moen was great for water conservation, but a little weak on performance. This new Niagara has a surprising feel to it, considering it's 2.0 GPM rating. According to the flow meter on the water softener, it is using 1.8 to 2.0 GPM, depending on which spray pattern you have set. UPDATE 7/3/17 It's a little over 2 years old, and the 90 degree fitting, connecting the shower neck to the flexible hose, is starting to split open. No way to repair it. No rough treatment or kids using it. It could be a fluke, and it is a great price, so I'll try a new unit. It's less expensive than just the angle fitting at Lowes.
