Weaver's Inkle Pattern Directory: 400 Warp-Faced Weaves

I was put off inkle weaving back in the 80s when I watched my Mum produce 1 very boring braid.... this book was an eye opener. So much so, when I unearthed the old inkle look earlier this year... I gave it away . Then I was encouraged to look again at inkle braids so i bought this book. My partner made me a new loom. It's a very portable form of weaving. You can make useful things with the lovely braids. Straps, belts leads, keyrings.. trimming for garments. Or sew them together to make wider fabric to make bags. This book contains lots of techniques to show you just what you can do with one of these looms. There are patterns and examples , well described so you can try to perfect the techniques. I have enjoyed working through it. This is a great resource and i would say a must if you are teaching yourself.

Very clear and fairly easy to use. I looked on YouTube for some of the very complicated patterns, but found the book extremely useful. I was recommended the spiral bound edition and am glad I took that advice, as you can prop it open while you warp up a pattern.

Very detailed book with excellent images throughout,I would have liked a little more detail in the instructions,as a beginner I found that a lot of knowledge was assumed by the author. I would still recommend this book as now I've learned the basics it is very useful

Tells you everything you need to know to get started. And also has lots of techniques and patterns for more advanced, which I haven't even attempted yet. The only book you really need to learn inkle weaving.

As other reviewers have said, this might not be the ideal book for the absolute beginner. But if you bought an inkle loom complete with instructions for weaving your first band, this is a good book to move on to next. There are lots of patterns to try, explanations of variations, and instructions for making your own patterns.

This is a quality product. It is well written and presented. It had a hard cover and it's spiral bound making it very easy to use. The contents are logically presented and understandable, even to a complete novice like me.
