wish it could be a negative 5 star review. this item works when it wants to. android auto randomly shuts off while in a call with someone. screen has blacked out on me multiple times. and wont work right unless i shut off the truck and restart it. plus has to reconnect the android auto multiple times while driving. its dumb and don't work like it should I've even tried updating the software in it and nothing. and if you think its a me problem it is not. i use android auto in my day to day work life as a trucker. i would say spend your money somewhere else.

I needed to update my 2004 Silverado 1500, and this was the perfect fit. I was trying to get the Jensen CAR1013, but i believe this is the amazon specific model of the same device. It is also almost $60 cheaper than crutchfield. I installed with a PAC RP5-GM11 adapter kit, which was probably overkill at an additional $140, because my truck is a base model without onstar or bose. The $40 scosche GM adapter probably would have been fine in my case, however everything booted up and just worked first time go. I did wire the included GPS antenna and the included microphone. Test call to my wife seemed to work just fine, no issue with the mic not working. I also wired a RED Wolf Tailgate Camera, which I soldered into the reverse positive and ground wires on the left tail light. The device read the canbus signals just fine, and the back up camera displayed the picture correctly. Not upside down or backwards, and no need for me to flip the image in the settings. I was able to manually adjust the back up guides, which was a nice feature. The only real downside to this device is due to the truck, not the device. The gear selector lever obstructs the screen a bit while in park. When driving this is not an issue. I posted pics of the clearance and even in park it is not touching. The Jensen also sticks out past the bezel enough that you can point it and angle the screen with quite a bit of play. The dash kit I used was the Metra Electronics 95-2001 Double DIN Installation Dash Kit for Select 1994 - 2012 GM Vehicles. I also used the double din metal cover plate that came with the Jensen. With the kits, head unit and back up camera I was properly set up with wireless android auto for around $500. Not to mention the wireless android auto works fantastic so far.

Works great except when on a call and you turn the car off the call drops. I’ve tried disconnecting Bluetooth, transferring back to phone speaker, anything I can think of but it still drops the call. Other than that, it’s great.

Locks up, behaves oddly and cuts out frequently. It will lock up and become completely unresponsive. The only way to to reset this is to shut the vehicle off and turn it back on. Super annoying. (yes I could hook up a switch somewhere to kill power to it while still running the car but that is not ideal) It also will sometimes just close Car Play and turn the Radio on randomly. While using it with Android Auto it will regularly cut in and out and often voice commands will not work and to get the voice commands to function again the car has to be switched off and back on. It can not be dimmed enough at night, it is still to bright. I know a lot of head units out there have issues even expensive ones but this is just not worth it even for a low price, try something else. I gave 2 stars vs 1 because it does work fine for some extended periods of time and when it does, I do like it and wish that was the always mode.

Went cheap and got what I paid for. Tuner is possibly the weakest I’ve ever had. Local radio station fades out in town. Don’t even bother when you try to leave the county. I tune in to a station which lasts about a song, then it goes into seek mode on its own, the only station it finds is the classical music station. So I get the game for two ads, it spontaneously tunes to the classical station, I scroll up to the game, only to get a couple of plays until we repeat the process. Thank God for the SiriusXM app, but sometimes, since I live in Tornado Alley, I would like to listen to a local station just to know if my family is safe or I’m driving directly into the storm. The alternator whine is pretty bad too.

Great value for the money. I installed this in a Isuzu NPR box truck with a lot of room on the dashboard and I think it was a great update for the safety and convenience of using wireless apple CarPlay for maps. It’s responsive and there is nothing to complain about. On the NPR I didn’t even have to use a dashboard install kit, I just used the double DIN metal bracket thing that came with this stereo and it all bolted up with the OEM brackets. Radio and wiring harness kit was like $255 which is crazy cheap. I spent about 2.5 hours making the harness and installing the radio but some of that time I was fiddling with the dash kit that I ordered and decided not to use. This radio has every basic feature that a $1200 radio of its kind would have. You can even remove the whole screen to deter theft. I would HIGHLY recommend this radio. A friend of mine put a Jensen in his spare car and after driving it and using that radio I completely changed my mind about considering Jensen products. Great buy!
