Maestri House S1 Mini Espresso Coffee Scale with Timer, 2kg/0.1g

TLDR: Buy it. It works well, it has impressive and useful features, it looks great, it’s thin/low-profile, and it’s a great price. Detailed review: I’m very happy with this scale, and it has certainly upped my espresso game by leaps and bounds. I’m able to weigh my beans very precisely down to a tenth of a gram (roughly the weight of a single bean), so my dosing is on point. Also, it fits beneath the portafilter with room to spare for my cup, so I can weigh my shots and accurately measure my input/output ratio. And automatic mode is magic! When the espresso hits the cup, the timer starts running, so I can measure flow rate along with everything else! Overall, super easy to use and very necessary for the at-home barista. One caveat: It acted weird on the 2nd or 3rd day, and I thought I was going to have to return it. The weight would slowly creep up even though I wasn’t adding any coffee. I dusted it off, made sure it was dry, set it on a more stable surface… I still don’t know what the matter was, but it stopped freaking out and it hasn’t really given me any trouble since. Also, I should mention that the automatic function doesn’t always work 100% perfectly; it works, and usually works quite well, but depending on the flow rate, you might get some drops dribbling into the cup and the timer not detect it right away. (I think the timer must be activated according to some sort of algorithm that looks for a certain increase in a certain amount of time, so a slower initial drip rate might not trigger it at first.) Also weirdly, it seems like about half of the time when the weight stops increasing (i.e., espresso stops flowing) , the timer pauses (as I think it’s supposed to do), but other times, the timer keeps running until you manually stop it. I don’t know… It’s a weird glitch, I guess, but it doesn’t really make any difference. The weight is accurate, and that’s the primary thing to keep an eye on. So, is it perfect? No, I guess not. But, it works extremely well and functions perfectly for my purposes. In fact, it’s a lot nicer and fancier than I expected – plus, it’s more affordable and more streamlined than its obvious rival the Acacia.

Very nice scale. Small enough to easily fit under brew head. Powers up quickly and all of the basic functions work well and are intuitive to use. Great scale for the money. Highly recommended.

Great scale! The device accurately weighs beans and fits under my espresso machine to measure shots. It stopped working after 11.5 months, but I called Maestri House (since it was still under warranty), and they offered a refund or replacement. I took a refund because I wanted to buy the newer S2 model, which is easier to clean. Either way, these are both quality products with outstanding support.

2 weeks in and no complaints. Exceeded my expectations. Timer function and tare work great. Size is perfect for my pour over setup. Weight is responsive with zero to minimal delay. Worth every penny so far.

This was my first coffee scale and I really wanted the timer and the decimal point precision for weighing the coffee beans -- both of which it does just fine. The charge: I've had it for a few weeks and the charge seems to hold pretty well, I only charged once before use. The compact size: I'm a petite female with petite hands but even I find it can be a little tricky to handle if after you've turned it on, and tared your vessel, then need to move the whole set up, say from the espresso machine to the counter -- it's very easy to accidentally hit a button or handle it in a way that results in resetting the timer as well as the tared weight. If that's not a use case for you then it shouldn't be a problem. The good thing about the compact size is it sits easily on my compact espresso machine.. The auto timer -- it will only work once the tared weight changes, like after the first drop of espresso, which isn't helpful for dialing in your shot so not useful for that, but maybe useful for something else. It's not bad for a basic coffee/kitchen scale when you need more precision as well as a timer function.

I had a precision oxo which was more expensive than this one but not great though, it would register .4 grams suddenly and not sensitive to the 1-2 bean increments. I bought this one for espresso specifically and man it is fantastic so accurate, super responsive, well built, size is great if you want to weigh your shot under your portafilter. I have a fellow series 1 and it’s amazing working with it. Overall highly recommend and for the price it’s amazing great value! Not sure why would I buy a bookoo for $130 or a fellow scale for $200. This one works great for $40

Bascula de espresso con batería recargable. Hasta 2kg, 0,01g de precisión, de tamaño compacto. Entra perfectamente en mi cafetera hibrew, es bastante plana por abajo y no se menea sobre la bandeja. Tiene temporizador con modo automático. Los dígitos se ven claramente y es bastante sencilla de usar. Me gustaría que tuviera una precisión de 0,01g, pero para el uso que se le va a dar la que tiene es suficiente. Veremos lo que dura la batería.

This is a neat piece of kit and does the job well. Combines weight and time neatly and has options to suit many circumstances.

Started calorie counting and needed something that could measure very small quantities for oils and sauces as they are often the most calorie dense foods. I’m happy to have this scale that is alot more precise than a generic one I bought in stores. Worth it if you want more accuracy!

Extremely impressed with this little beauty. I recently purchased a Ninja coffee machine and struggled to get the right flow of coffee, working blind not knowing the output weight. Bought this as the reviews were very good plus it fits onto the drip tray perfectly. It has an auto timer that starts with the first drip of coffee and very stable weight readout. I didn't want to go too cheap or expensive and thought this was a good price. Im very impressed with the quality and so far no problems. Would recommend

The scale works really well, lasts a really long time without being charged, and looks really good too.
