Dealer charged $658.58 to change these...
...and that is just waaaaay too much. $249.04 for the hatch struts, $70.06 for the window struts, $304.50 for 2.1 hours of labor. Plus $35 for two pieces of "trim". This is about 10% of the value of the vehicle! Always change out all four struts since they all contribute to holding the hatch open (and you might as well while you're in there for an extra $15). Found videos of how to change them on YouTube, it's pretty easy if you take your time. They work very well initially; as soon as I pop the hatch, it opens itself. No need to lift the door at all. Vehicle is a 2004 Cayenne. Have owned it since new. The original four struts lasted until April 2014, and the second set of four struts installed by the dealer (Porsche parts made in Germany) lasted until now (Nov. 2020). Somehow, the original hood strut still works perfectly. I've installed these A-Premium hatch struts along with the A-Premium window struts. Total cost: $84.98 So I figure I'm nearly $600 ahead already. Lets see how long these Chinese ones last! They cost about 25% of the German parts so if they last 3 years, I'm satisfied. I wouldn't want to change them any more often than that. Will definitely update if they start to weaken at all. UPDATE: These are still working great after 4+ years!

Fit great
This is the 2nd time I have had to conduct this replacement to my Cayenne. Bought hoping they last longer then the last ones I bought. Fit great and are very strong. Watch out for getting your chin hit when you open the hatch as it swings up so fast now and requires an effort to close. That makes me happy.

Doesn't function as they should
As many other people said these are extremely poor quality would I would not recommend. You open the tailgate and it just flies up into your face with no shock absorber whatsoever to slowly raise the tailgate as it should from the factory. Other manufacturers and original OEM struts slowly raises the tailgate. This purchase was $80 in the trash for me...

Great quality part for worn out door hatch.easy to install after removing necessary components

Stronger than OE
Works but tailgate flies up pretty quickly. Clips are a pain to secure in a tight spot even with grease. Fits with a little wiggling but be forewarned, your tailgate rapidly open

FIts 2004 Porsche Cayenne Turbo
Second time changing the tailgate struts myself. The last time I did this it lasted 5 years. Hopefully these will last longer. It's not a hard thing to change the struts but it is a major pain.

Watch out when opening.
The strut definitely works. I don't want to complain because I went from having to prop up the hatch with a stick to installing these struts that work. My only concern is they really work. When I open the hatch it Fies up so fast it almost hit my chin. When the hatch opens it doesn't move fluidly. It opens so fast that at full open the whole car moves. Lol..

Struts Broke Within a Week Caused Serious Injury
I am writing this review with a serious warning: DO NOT BUY THESE TRUNK STRUTS UNLESS YOU WANT TO RISK SERIOUS INJURY! I had these struts replaced just about a week ago, and for that short period, they seemed to work fine. However, today, about a week after installation, both struts completely failed without warning. I opened my trunk and leaned in to retrieve an item when, suddenly, both struts snapped or gave way. The heavy trunk lid came crashing down on my lower back, causing significant injury. I am now dealing with back pain and the aftermath of this completely unexpected and dangerous failure. The fact that these struts worked for only about a week before failing so catastrophically is completely unacceptable and frankly, terrifying. A trunk strut's primary function is to safely hold the trunk lid open. The failure of both struts simultaneously poses a serious safety hazard.
