Motion detection settings are not very good. Never could get it to automatically email notifications Overall: Good beginner system with options to upgrade HD storage or use cameras with another NVR.

Lorex is horrible
It was a nightmare to set up. The user interface is horrible. The app for iPhone is not streaming videos at all despite having a gigabit service. The Mac software is not working either. When I sent support ticket, I got a reply saying it's been closed. What?! I will NEVER ever recommend Lorex. It's the most expensive mistake I ever made. Do NOT even think about buying it. Lorex makes sense if you intend to be on the desk watching the videos to monitor any activities for business but don't even think about having it at home.

And I got a 3-year protection plan. Rip-off buying this one.

High quality pictures especially in night colors vision satisfy tech support they stay with you till solved the case or you call back later and provide the ticket number last time they gave you if you don’t call back in 5 days the case will close but no worries they will reopen the case
