The 3" first flush is a bit tighter than the 4". Do know this, smaller debris will clog the screen at the bottom before the ball will get lodged, this will make prevent/slow the initial bad water from draining properly. Also consider the amount of water you need to flush based on roof surface area flowing to the flush. Reduce debris that could clog the system with gutter guards not expensive and just put them on the gutters feeding the capture system. This will also help with the routine maintenance, you need to clean it out the sediment/small debris to keep it working at it's best. If you were wondering why you see fine screens offered with the system. Fine screen keeps small debris out of the drain screen allowing better draining and longer intervals between cleaning.
