Or is there a larger one that works better for this applicati** A: It should work, this converter runs at 50 hertz, it ramps up from 0 to 50 hertz slowly. I am using on a 30” band saw that is very hard starting and it works flawless. You will have to Remove the factory switch on your compressor and wire vfd in its place, I am not sure of the wires for the pressure switch. But yes this vfd will convert single to 3 phase. **Q: Does this unit have auto-start when input is energized?** A: It can if you set that option. None of the ones which failed were being "pushed", all of them were rated at least 50% above the load they were controlling. I suspect you are looking at a failure oh one of the triacs, not a cap.
