AFFORDABLE Shoulder Model..Pros & Cons
The Model is anatomically accurate for the actual shoulder anatomy & bone surfaces, BUT- the cross section of the humerus has NO anatomical similarity to true bone cross section-offering NO anatomical reference. The end of the cross sectioned bone is just molded flat plastic with a mold seam. The muscle attachments are slightly flexible-& very tight, offering NO actual range of motion-only minimal bits of movement. The muscle attachments are fixed-probably with a strong glue or heat fixed. There are no charts or anatomical labeling included with the purchase. The model CAN be detached from the screw-on plastic base. The female threads are in the underneath of the proximal side of the scapula, allowing the metal rod to attach to the model. These are only "tap-threaded" into the plastic bone area.( a poor design). When trying to reattach the metal rod into the model it is very easy to mis-thread the plastic threaded insertion & strip out the hole into which the rod from the stand is to be screwed..This could be remedied with a metal female threaded screw insertion from a hardware store IF one can find a corresponding thread size matching the rod threads-but a hole would have to be bored out in the plastic bone to do this. Big job-I didn't do this. Although I had a very hard time aligning the threads & re-screwing the base rod into the underneath of this shoulder model. I will put some weight on the base- I suggest 2inch heavy rectangular magnets one on the top & one under the base-let the magnets attract each other through the 1/8th inch thick plastic base. This model is a good size for education purposes. It arrived quickly & is affordable..Just received it today- If I decide to keep it, I believe it will have a long life in education...with my other plastic body parts.

I don't like it
It is not durable at all, range of motion is TOO small, I don't really like it. Two stars just because delivery was on time and properly packed.
