The physical therapist recommended a slide board, and after researching the reviews, I decided to try this one. My husband is not a small individual (273 lbs.), and neither one of us is young (both 78 years old). The physical therapist was very surprised with this board, and it really does the job! It is thin, smooth enough to wedge under him, and easy enough for him to slowly shimmy across to complete a transfer. It is very durable and lightweight, but it is strong enough for a heavier person to use. It has a slight curve to it, which allows the patient to be a bit more flexible and comfortable than using a straight board. I also purchased a sheet for this board to make sliding easier, but it is seldom necessary.
