Sharp
This works really well. I would strongly suggest using the guard, and possibly a glove also. The ceramic blade is sharp and shallots, and potatoes glide through for great thin slices both directions. It also works really well on thumbs, hence the point on using a glove and the guard

Very sharp blades!
This is an excellent mandolin. Slices very thinly. Just be careful not to cut yourself while using or cleaning it as the blades are sharp! I don’t let anyone else wash it. I’ve been cut twice! My fault entirely. I did t realise how sharp the blades are. Use the grip that comes with it and you’ll be fine.

Unexpected high quality for low cost.
It's by no means an amazing slicer - it only slices in one size and that is perfectly paper thin slices, which is great if you need to make tzatziki or potato chips. The plastic itself feels frail in your hand and the hand guard included with the slicer doesn't connect with the rest of the slicer until the thing you are slicing is barely 1 centimeter tall. I tried slicing pieces of pumpkin, which went relatively well until I had to hold the piece with the hand guard and the slicer began having issues with the skin of the pumpkin. I'm sure the slicer will have a much easier time with a slightly softer vegetable like a carrot. It's easy to clean and easy to use, but it is limited in functionality due to it only having a single level of slicing thickness. It was cheap and I don't feel disappointed compared to what I spent on the slicer, it just has limited usage for my needs.

Excellent double edged mandoline
I had a double edged mandolins before and loved it but after many years the handle snapped. I bought a good brand European single edged one but found it so slow to use. I don’t use the guard as it really only works on flat items and I use it for fruit and veg. I’ve not cut myself. The Kyocera is very sharp and easy to hold. Exactly what I wanted

Very useful item
Very very nice item that I have owned for a year at least and is a handy tool in the raw prep repertoire. I have not experienced any safety issues and find the guide to be helpful and safe, no need for metal chef glove. Produces a very fine cut and is non adjustable. Have used it on onions, red cabbage, bell peppers, salad onions and find it a fast and convenient alternative to the food processor slicing blade for small amounts, would be handy for travel as it is so light and takes up v little space. I did make the mistake of attempting to slice red cabbage using the whole head, the weight/pressure was too much and the handle snapped but Amazon were kind enough to replace it for me!

Not adjustable, despite the description saying it is.
If you want hard things sliced very finely, this would be great for you. However, I made the mistake of believing the description "The advanced ultra-sharp ceramic blade can be adjusted to 4 different cutting thicknesses with the turn of a dial", and ended up being disappointed as it is a fixed blade. Unsurprisingly, it failed with a tomato, but I guess it will be OK with cucumbers, spring onions, etc. Two stars docked for the erroneous description, which has been reported to Amazon.

Sharp!
My last mandolin lasted over twenty years and was just getting a little blunt. This is much sharper and I did nick my little finger despite being careful - won't happen again!

Works as expected
Very sharp, good replacement for my old mandoline.

This is a great thin-slicing alternative to an expensive and bulky mandolin. If I just wanted to thinly slice a half an onion for a salad, I probably wouldn't bother setting up a mandolin, but this thing I just pull out of a drawer, use it, rinse it with some soapy water, put the guard over the blade and throw it back in the drawer. It's sharp. It's wide. It's easy to use. It's much easier to clean than a bulky, complex mandolin. AND it's much easier to store then a mandolin. The double-sided blade isn't necessary, but it does make slicing crazy fast. I imagine it will help the slicer last longer too. And it's cheap, so it doesn't have to last forever. If it dulls, I'll just buy a new one. Recommended.

I use this all the time. It is a single setting but so much quicker and easier than my big Mandolin. I use it for thinly sliced veg for stir fry, veggie bakes, soups and it's great for finely sliced garlic and ginger. Love it
