How does the reflection on this work ? Surely the reflection will display the complete opposite as to whats actually displaying on the device ?

You need an app with a HUD mode feature. This reverses the image on screen so that it appears the right way round in the reflection.

You use your smartphone as the light emitter, dont bother, it doesnt work very well.

As it is illegal to operate a mobile phone (even as a sat nav) whilst driving, is there any point buying this product ?

Illegal or not this product is a waste of time...their Hudway app doesn't work very well and until Waze or Gmaps supports HUD it's a pointless gadget. Been gathering dust in my cupboard for more than a year.
