What is the card material? Are the sides of the card matte red?

The sides on the cards are white. Not red matte. The card box is red matte-ish. But the cards are white on the sides. I am not sure what the card material is. They are cardboard. And they are covered with something. They seem like standard Tarot cards to me. Not flimsy and thin. But not too thick. BTW, it is a beautiful deck.
