As someone nearing the 1,000-unit mark with these Broadfix shims on a major renovation project, I can safely say they have become an absolute toolkit essential. I have used them for everything from door lining shimming to levelling off tile battens for overboarding ceilings. Compared to larger sizes, this specific smaller profile is by far the most versatile. They fit nicely behind both 2x1 tile battens and 3x2 timber studwork. What Makes Them Great: - Perfect Dimensions: Ideal for tight timber studwork and standard battening. - Smart Colour Coding: An absolute lifesaver when you are dangling off a ladder with a pocket full of mixed sizes and need quick identification. - Central Retaining Slot: Fantastic for aligning around screws, particularly on tricky vertical surfaces. - Durability: Lightweight but highly durable under compression. Minor Drawbacks to Note: - The Barbs: The retaining barbs work a bit too well sometimes. If you need to slide a shim out to swap it for a different thickness, the barbs can make removal frustrating. - Moulding Quality Control: In almost every bag, I encounter roughly 5 defective shims. They are usually cut short or snapped in half straight from the moulding process. Fortunately, these broken fragments are still usable for smaller, random packing tasks. Value Verdict: While you can find cheaper generic alternatives on the market, the consistency, sizing, and convenience of these keep me hitting re-order. They offer great overall value for serious DIY or trade projects.

... 1 star removed, because a few of them had a bit of extra plastic from the injection moulding left on them. No big deal, as you can easily cut them off with a knife, but this is not ideal, as it adds height. I would also have appreciated the label including details on the colour coding. That is, explicitly say on the label "Yellow=1mm; green=2mm..." etc. in big letters. Again, this not a big deal, because the size is moulded into the plastic. But it would save a few seconds every time you grab the bag -- rather than searching around for the right size, you'd know immediately what colour you need (though I suppose if you use them frequently enough, you'd get used to which is which). Minor niggles. They're a great addition to precision in the workshop (or a help with bodging through, whatever!).

Used to level a new bathroom door entrance / lining and stud wall. Solid pieces good mix of sizes to ensure the levels are correct.
