Towel loops hard to find - problem solved
I'm giving 5* because I've been unable to find these to buy in the UK, even in homeware/kitchen shops or supermarkets/hardware stores with a rail of assorted sewing junk where you'd expect to see them, and did see and buy them in supermarkets on the continent. It wasn't ideal having a shipping cost, but the overall cost has been worth it for the peace of mind. I've been looking for these without success on and off for a couple of years before thinking to look here. That and the whole support the highstreet thing – seems the horse has bolted. Thin towels are a breeze. The stud will probably go through fairly easily, or there's a plastic poker provided to make a small hole to push the stud through. Handy! Thick (normal) towels are a bit harder, but if you make a hole and move some of the loops on the fabric away from the hole it is possible to force the loop on and force it closed. You may need to apply brute force, e.g. hitting it with a convenient blunt object (hammer / mallet / pestle / rock, ..). Towel fabric doesn't seem to compress well though so if it's not going you should tease more fabric away from the stud instead of just hitting it harder.. The loops are big enough for small hooks, but not large enough to loop over a towel dryer radiator in our case. That's fine though because I mostly bought them for the kitchen. Overall, this is a very simple old idea that probably needs better marketing, with someone rediscovering it as a "life hack" (or whatever). Being able to put towels over kitchen cupboard handles is so much better than having them fall on the floor all the time.

Use a full size Awl and follow simple technique for fixing to towels
These cloth loops are great - I use them to hang bath sheets, and none have come off - even after multiple washes. There is a technique to get them to snap together. Use a proper full size awl (I've got a Prym Ergonomic Awl, 1-5mm - but any awl with a rounded end to the handle will work) to make a hole. Poke the post end through the hole, taking care to move any fibres from it. Place flat on a hard surface (with post facing up) and align the hole other end with the post. Take the handle end of the awl and press hard in a circular motion (that bit is important - don't just press down) around it and it will clip into place.

Achieve the purpose
These did the job they were intended for. As other reviewers have commented the little plastic tool for making the starter hole is not really up to the job, but once a hole is made - I used a skewer - it is useful for enlarging said hole. Again as others, I found the studs difficult to push together. My preferred version of loops is a totally plastic strip but since they don't seem to be made anymore these are a reasonable alternative.

Perfect
These worked brilliantly. There were no instructions and it was pretty difficult to find any online. They come with a small tool. You use this to punch a hole into the fabric then push the centre nozzle through press them together to affix. I needed the loop for a thick towel so used a hammer to push them together

Not Great
Not great. Would only work on very thin items. Would not buy again, virtually unusable for purpose required.

Just the ticket
There are 5 strips in the packet: each approx 6 inches (15cm) long and half an inch (18mm) wide. The gap between poppers is approx 4 inches (10cm), giving you a loop of about 2 inches. The fabric is a quite stiff white ribbon of, I assume, some sort of polyester. The poppers are plastic with metal re-inforcements. There is also a plastic, graduated “nail” to poke through your tea towel to make the hole for the popper. There is no need to use scissors or anything sharp and it’s very easy to use this “nail” to part the fibres in cotton or terry without causing damage. Once clipped on, and you’ll hear a little click when it’s home, they are almost immovable, but you can twist them round to get the right angle for your hook. I bought 4 packets and put them on all sorts of towels and cleaning cloths with no problem. They have been through the wash, and tumble dryer, with no problems. I have put them on my bathroom cleaning cloths so there is no excuse for not instantly cleaning the bath and hanging them up allows them to dry quickly too. I only wish they weren’t such a bright white!

Perfect for tea towels.
These are perfect for attaching to tea towels. These can then be hung up easily.

Good idea but lots of duds
These are good when they work, but out of the 10 loops that I bought, only half of them worked.

These little towel clips are a great idea. They work well with kitchen towels and thin terry towels since I can get the loop snapped close to the edge and the towels are thin. The snaps aren't big enough to go through thick terry towels but they work great for the kitchen and remained intact after washing. The loops aren't big enough to go over my round kitchen cabinet/drawer knobs so I hook them on S hooks.

Plastic snap only deep enough and strong enough for very thin towels. Also possible the towel will rip at puncture.
