Malo o defectuoso
lo he intentado usar para conectar mi HD6870 con mi monitor dell U3211H como segunto monitor y la pantalla es inutilizable. El monitor parpadea cada pocos segundos ( incluso llega a perder la señal durante 1 o 2 segundos) . He probado con otro adaptador similar que tengo "chino" y funciona perfectamente. Al final he tenido que comprar otro cable.

Cheap quality.
I am a bit late with this review but I thought it could be useful anyway. I bought this product at the end of May 2018. I have used StarTech cables for years and I have never had any issue but this time I was very disappointed by the cheap quality of this adapter. My laptop is on a stand and I can't use this adapter because it bends too much and my external monitor goes black intermittently. I used it for a couple weeks and then I got tired of the constant signal loss on the monitor. Other cables and adapters work well. Definitely not worth the 20 Euros price tag. Waste of money.

built like a tank
Works perfectly, I have an older 30" NEC monitor 2560x1600 which is a thing of beauty, built like a tank, IPS screen, £1,600 new and didn't want to have to chop it in cause DVI-D connectors are old tech. Thus I have a USB powered "DVI-D to Full size displayport adapter" which, in turn, connects to this "full size displayport to mini displayport adapter" I was wondering if an active adapter, connected to a passive adapter would work with my laptop but it does.
