Best out of 4 cordless vacuum purchases! (Dyson included)
Let me start by saying, I have owned a Dyson cordless vacuum (completely overpriced! with a junk battery life to boot), a Hoover cordless (broke in less than a month), and a Craftman cordless (doesn't pick up much at all - junk)... Overall, I have wasted over $500 dollars on cordless vacuums (got my money back on the Hoover thank goodness)... None of the aforementioned vacuums come close to Bissell! First thing my daughter and I noticed, beyond it being very light, was that it is simple and easy to clean! Pop out can and filters and even the brisseled rollers snap in and out easily for cleaning! Washable filters - Heck yeah. It does an excellent job picking up the hair on tile floors in a house with a dog and three cats! The battery lasts over 30 minutes on the medium setting and at least 20 on high! - we haven't used it much on low) It actually came with a bunch of attachments, which work wonderfully! (I had to buy similar attachments separately for the Dyson. Furthermore, unlike any of the other vacuums mentioned, these attachments stay ON the vacuum when not in use. (the other brands have snap on holders that fall off all the time!) The holder for the wall is well built and holds extra attachments and charges the battery. I would say that my only complaint would be the tube is a bit small and sometimes the hair (there is a ton in this house) gets clogged in the tube. However, this too is easy to clean out and get back to it. Everything snaps on and off so easily. We have used it on carpeted floors but prefer to use the plug in vacuum for that. We like the battery vacuum for the tile downstairs and the stairs themselves.

Worst Bissell EVER
I have had great Bissell products in the past but this one is a huge disappointment. First problem is the battery run time which drains in probably 15 min on high speed, which is the only one that does a decent job on carpets. Does not do a great job on bare floors b/c it does not really pick up much other than dust or hair.... a piece of cat litter or a few grains of rice seem to be too much to handle b/c they just get pushed around. Still, its lightweight and easy for me to use on my stairs and furniture so I decided to keep, and now that its a month out of the 3 month return window I am totally regretting. I clean the filters and brush roller after every use so when the fully charged vac kept shutting off immediately it took me a minute to realize that it was the carpet attachment causing the problem because the brush roller wouldn't spin. I opened it up and inspected the brush roller, which was completely clean, but pulled it out and wiped clean anyway. When I put it back into the housing it would spin when pushed manually, but when I clicked the bottom of the housing closed the brush wouldn't spin. After several frustrating attempts to figure out the problem I contacted customer support and was told that the roller had "seized" and would need to be replaced. Since this seems to be a clear defect in the part I assumed it would be covered by the 2 yr warranty, but was told that brushes are recommended to be replaced after 4 months as routine maintenance and NOT covered under the warranty!! I am 67 years old and have a fair amount of experience with using vacuum cleaners over my lifetime, but this is the very 1st time I've EVER had a brush roller "seize" and need to be replaced, much less be something that needs to be done every few months!! From other reviews it seems this part is regularly out of stock and can take weeks to receive which is simply unacceptable in my opinion. Shame on Bissell for passing the cost of their poor engineering onto us!

Good product for a good price!
Its great for cleaning higher surfaces! The attachments allow easy access to getting those stubborn air vents and corners, and the brush end works wonders getting hair off the edges of cabinets! I was able to use a step ladder and use the lightweight vacuum to get all the hair and dust up from the cats jumping up there. With cleaning it and reorganizing my kitchen they have really decide if jumping up there is appropriate or not! My mom is elderly, and she LOVES using the flat attachments and the self cleaning brushes thats on the vacuum end! We're using this almost every day since ive bought it and its comparable to a Dyson! Just WAY LESS COSTLY! Best part is, bissel donates to the lost animals cause. We have 6 cats, 3 are elderly and its so QUIET that those same cats plus the young one do not even run from the noise of the vacuum! Absolutely LOVE my bissel and I'm glad I got the warranty!

Great design idea, poor functional execution
My house has several medium haired shedding dogs and zero carpet - only area rugs. They are varying thickness and vary in pile as well. My current vacuum with "great suction" is unusable on the medium pile rugs. It sucks them up and immediately shuts off. If I turn off the beater bar, it's like pushing a weight sled, and it still doesn't pick anything up. My thin washable rug in my entry way is too thin and also immediately gets sucked up. This is useless because it's the entry way so right now tons of ice melt is getting tracked into the house. So legitimately I was looking for something that wasn't high powered and thought a cordless should do the job. A detachable battery is essential for me, and I liked that this one is easy to adjust the power mode on. I was honestly quite excited to get this. It was a let down. First, the good thing: The power level isn't too much for area rugs. I can't use high power on the washable rug but medium works just great. It works about the same on every pile I tried it on. It picked up the ice melt no problems. Dried chunks of dirt, no problems! If I dropped potato chips on the floor it would probably do a fine job. The battery is easy to snap on and remove. Again, this was a star feature for me, and I love it. The bad: the puny 2AH battery results in a battery life that's basically non-existent on high power. You'll be lucky to get five minutes of use on high. On medium, I can definitely see getting through my whole house on one charge for one battery. A contributing issue is the battery takes a long crawl of 5-6 hours to charge. I personally don't object to the idea of having to recharge the battery after every vacuum, but not being able to actually finish vacuuming my 1000 sq ft house with area rugs without a giant pause of nearly a full working day isn't practical. There's a better solution here with the batteries that involves bigger than 2AH and fast chargers, and ideally, two batteries and a dual charger. It's true that bigger batteries weigh more, so there's a tradeoff. A slightly larger battery and a faster charge would get into the sweet spot. Frankly, with only the 2AH and how slow this charges, it's ridiculous this doesn't just come with two batteries straight from the factory. I had a feeling this would be the situation, but did not order a second battery on purchase because I wanted to make sure it was good enough to keep first. I gave this a real honest shot, because I knew I could just buy a second battery. It does, after all, work for all my area rugs! BUT - here's the deal breaker. It is pretty useless for dog hair, which is unfortunate since this is supposed to be a pet model. What it looks like to me is this vacuum primarily isn't actually sucking the dog hair up. Rather, it just wraps it around the beater bar. If the beater bar is fully wrapped, it ceases to pick up any other hair. It just pushes the hair around in clumps on the rug. If I clear off the beater bar, it does a better job again, but I just don't want to be cleaning the beater bar five times per vacuuming. It's honestly bizarre. I agree with other complaints about debris getting stuck up high in the small canister and needing to reach in to pull things out, but in all fairness, I also have to do this with my Dyson. I really wanted to like this and even with the battery challenge, I thought it would be doable. But it's so useless on dog hair, there's no way around it. I'll be returning it.

I’m vacuuming couches counters mattresses and walls with this too
Very light weight with great attachments, super easy to assemble the right pieces in case you want to vacuum something other than the floor (couch, bed, walls, ceiling.. inside of drawers.. it’ll fit to maneuver anywhere. The cordless part is the best bc tripping over vacuum cords will send me over the edge. The filter is easy to clean whether it’s just a simple clean or needs a whole deep clean it takes like 2 steps to make everything smell better. The battery doesn’t last long, so maybe need a backup battery or be less dirty. and if you have a “washable rug” you need to use the lowest setting for it to work. Good vacc for a normal family or basic cleans, if you live with heathens may need something with more power/bigger filter space bc I do have to empty mine approx 4x while vacuuming my main living space (this is probably a user problem not a product problem) Best attachment is the deep cleaning one to vacuum mattresses or couches!

DO NOT BUY - Design of vacuum is awful.
I don't normally write reviews but this is one where I want to warn others. I've read the reviews before buying. I had a cordless vacuum previously and was looking for a vacuum specifically that I could buy battery replacements for since I had another one die within a year. However this vacuum IS NOT IT. The entire design of the vacuum is so awful, it's not even worth buying. It frequently won't pick up anything on hard wood floors (even trying all settings), and gets everything stuck within the stick of the vacuum. I read the reviews about things getting stuck in the filter and though "oh that won't be too bad - all vacuums have that." This is so much worse. There's a little flap that goes from the stick into the filter- hair, dust, pet hair will all get stuck in the STICK of the vacuum so it won't even go into the filter. So the only way to get the hair and dust out is to stick your finger in the stick of the vacuum to get it out. Then to actually get the dirt & dust out like normal you have to take apart the ENTIRE vacuum. You first have to take it off the stick, then from the stick you have to click a button for it to release and pop out. Then from there you have to click another button to actually empty into the garbage. And since everything gets stuck in the stick of the vacuum, you then have to take the canister off the stick, then get everything out of the stick, and then get everything out of the canister and take the filter off. It literally is a 5 minute process EVERY TIME. Then another huge design flaw - if you're right handed the vacuum air is going to blow directly into your face. The vent is facing you as a right handed person will blow hot air at you the entire time. Not a big deal if you're doing less than 5 minutes, but if you're vacuuming stairs or trying to do an entire room it's annoying and gets hot. Another huge design flaw is that you have to push down on the head brush of the vacuum to make it go down and actually vacuum. It wouldn't be a big deal if it stayed that way (like corded vacuums have) unfortunately it does not. So if you're going into an awkward corner and need to vacuum something, be sure to make sure that the head brush is down when you pull it back because it will just go back up. And then the issue of the battery. What an inconvenience not to be able to charge the battery on the stick. I know some people wrote reviews about it being a nice thing because they wanted to store their vacuum somewhere where there is no outlet, but in my opinion, it's not worth it. So you have to take the battery off every time that you want to charge it which adds extra time to being able to use the vacuum. I wanted a cordless vacuum for convenience. This entire vacuum is the opposite of convenience and ease. DO. NOT. BUY.

Great suction!! But does NOT work on rugs, carpet or mats and has short battery life
PSA: Do Not Purchase If …. you have any area rugs, mats or carpet in your house! This does not work on those surfaces!!!!!! I normally don’t write reviews for products I buy but I feel like this review is important. A lot of reviews I read on products seem so fantasized and theatrical that it’s really hard to trust them or take them seriously. Vacuums are expensive and essential to keeping a house clean, so thorough and honest reviews are important when searching for a vacuum. I purchased this vacuum to replace my cordless Shark vacuum that I’ve had for 5 years. I have 3 medium to large dogs, two of which have double layer coats that shed so much and 2 cats, one of which is long haired and sheds horribly. I also have 3 kids who love to forget to take their shoes off in the mud room. The need for a lightweight, durable, strong powered and quiet vacuum that can handle the pet hair and dirt in my house is a MUST. I began noticing that the suction of the Shark vacuum was decreasing drastically and it just wasn’t getting my floor clean. The battery life was also getting shorter after years of daily use. So after reviewing and searching for a new vacuum, I purchased this one. It says it works on multi surfaces, furniture, hardwood floors and other various areas. I read reviews about customers using it on carpets without issue. I only have one room in my house with carpet and I use a corded Shark vacuum on that. The rest of my house is hardwood floors, laminate in the mud room and some area rugs or mats in various rooms. This vacuum does amazing cleaning up animal hair on hardwood surfaces. Cleaning with it is great and the suction is awesome. I LOVE the light feature that makes seeing missed areas so easy. I also love the design of it and that it came with the wall mount parts. I can use it getting pet hair and dirt off furniture, my cat tower, window sills, baseboards, curtains etc. Now, here are my major issues. My 1st issue is the battery life because it is awful. If you use it on high, you have less than 8 minutes. I usually stick to medium or low power which can give me 20-30 mins max. Those suction strengths get the job done on the high traffic area if I’m doing a quick run through. On furniture, bedding, cat towers, I need to use the high power setting so I have a short window to get those done. You can purchase back up batteries so when one battery dies, you can replace it with the full charged one. This can solve the short battery life problem which is something you can’t do on most vacuums. So, while the battery life is an issue, it at least can be solved with purchasing more batteries to extend the usage time. Batteries were around $30, give or take. Most vacuums have their batteries built in, making it impossible to solve a poor battery life issue. So that is a small silver lining. My 2nd and biggest issue with this vacuum is that it does not work on area rugs, mats or thin carpet. I have bathroom and kitchen mats, entry way rugs, and area rugs in various rooms of the house that are all thin. I only own the light and thin washable rugs because of pets and kids which tend to cause messes, marks and stains on rugs and mats. Unfortunately, every time I try to use this vacuum, it suctions tight to the rug and cuts off. I tried several of the attachments with the same result. Using the skinny and longer extension attachments are the only thing that doesn’t cut it off on rugs and mats. Those attachments aren’t feasible or strong enough for getting dirt and hair off/out of area rugs or mats. This has been my biggest disappointment. Now I need to find another solution for those areas, which will probably result in purchasing a new vacuum. I rated this vacuum a 3 because it still has a lot of great features about it but unfortunately if you have area rugs, mats or carpet in your house, this vacuum is NOT for you and you should not purchase it. Also, the battery life of this vacuum is 20-30 mins max. So if you need a vacuum to run longer than that and are not willing to purchase back up batteries, don’t purchase this vacuum. I hope this review helps others who are researching for new vacuums to purchase!

Perfect for small home
I have a small condo. About 700sq ft. I live alone with no pets. Ive owned for almost 2 years. I’ve loved this vacuum. I don’t vacuum much and I only charge it every couple months. I have long hair that it picks up no problem. I’ve vacuumed up craft supplies and long fringe from projects. I love that I can take off the stick and use the vacuum as a short vacuum while sitting on the floor. It really helps my back pain. It’s perfect for cleaning the ceiling fans without standing on a stool. I’m trying to convince my mother to buy one too. I love that it’s cordless and has its own charger for just the battery. I previously had a refurbished Dyson and it never worked properly so I decided to try bissell and I’ve had no problems.
