A good option to protect your lawn, but you need to think about the height difference it creates from your stance
This is the second hitting mat I've tried. The product has the appearance of an upside yard brush, the stiff fibres are grouped in tufts that are clearly separate from one another when they form the surface. The base is solid and, when fixed to the ground using tees (which requires it to be on grass), doesn't move. It's sufficiently weighty that it might not move on a hard surface, but they recommend you buy their stand mat to go with it for this type of use.One problem is that, if you're using it outdoors on turf, the ball is now a good inch or two above your feet; so you either need to dig it into the lawn or get a mat to stand on that will raise you to the same height as the ball: alternatively, just practice playing off uphill lies! I'm yet to completely solve this problem, because it's important to have a solid, grippy base to hit from to generate a solid contact.Regrettably, the mat is very unforgiving on fat shots (i.e. when you make contact slightly behind the ball); the club head speed drops dramatically. On the upside, the feel is such that you start to tune in to the sensation of hitting your golf club on a stiff brush just before making contact with the ball, so with the right swing adjustments it should be an aid to improvement. On the positive side, these shots are not as jarring as they would be on a traditional rubber-based mat.I can confirm that the mat works well with a launch monitor. I'm using it with Skytrack and, other than needing to stand the unit on something to get sufficient height to put it level with the hitting surface, it provides good readings. The laser can be a little hard to see on the fibres, but once you know where it is, the shape of mat is such that you know exactly where to place the ball anyway. The adjustable height tee that comes with it is excellent. It can be removed when hitting irons of the surface.

Hitting surface is curved and way too high
I may have a defective unit as the actual hitting turn is slighty curved. Images Ive seen on fiberbuilt website show this as a flat hitting area so returning to Amazon for a full refund. I may order another unit to see if Its any better, For what its worth this mat is way too high so you will need a good 2 inch standing mat.
