I found my new favorite colored pencils
I heard these were a cheaper alternative similar to Prismacolor, so I decided to try them. I actually like them better than Prismacolor. They feel creamy but not too soft, which is just the sweet spot for me. They pigment is vibrant and this set offers a beautiful selection. They blend well. They sharpen better & don't break as easily as Prismacolor, too, which is nice. I also appreicate that they included the swatches/names/numbers on the inside and on the back of the tin. Even though I do my own swatch card it is nice for a quick reference. I'm not a professional colored pencil artist; in the past I've sold some paintings or done some mural/scenery commissions as a side job, but my pencil art I just do for my own enjoyment or to give as gifts, hand-made cards, etc. This pencil set does tell you the light fastness of each color, but since it's not something I really worry about with colored pencils I cannot vouch for how accurate it is or if it holds up as well as other, more expensive brands. However, if you're looking for a nice drawing/coloring experience, and you want a better colored pencil that doesn't break the bank, these are definitely worth a try.

Comparable to Holbein IMO
I own over 50 sets of colored pencils from no name dollar store sets to professional brands such as Faber Castell Polychromos, Caran d'ache Pablo and Holbein. This set of Arteza Expert pencils resembled Holbein pencils to me, in appearance of the pencils and most aspects of performance. They are waxier than the Holbein pencils. They glide across the paper effortlessly and incredibly smoothly. There is no scratchiness at all even with a pinpoint sharp tip. The pigment laydown is excellent. I really love the colors in this set and they really add unique colors to my collection, with the exception of the black not being as strongly black as I expect from higher quality pencils. It is more of a dark gray to me, than a truer black tone. These are waxier pencils, so wax bloom may be a potential issue in time, but I do not know since I have only had them a short time. I like the tin the pencils come in as it's heavier than many other brands and I like the hinged lid over two piece tins. For the price point, these pencils are amazing quality and a new favorite in my collection. I've already ordered an additional set. I highly recommend this set!!

Great Colored Pencils!
Nice pencils. The tin is an attractive way to store them and the three inside trays makes it easy to keep pencils organized. The colors of the pencils are wonderful.

creamy smooth quality pencils for all artistic levels
These are quality pencils and the packaging is great, the metal tin keeps them secure. Thatโs a huge plus... So, Iโve used and own several brands of colored pencils, Iโm not a professional artist. Although something went terribly wrong on my order and it took a long time to arrive originally was to arrive on 4th but arrived on evening of the 7th.. being a prime item and was promised delivery on 4th- that did bother me & chat was zero help. I want to specify Amazon chat not arteza. So shipping issues need to be approved on. ON THE PRODUCT NOW:) Worth the purchase-but price is a bit inflated in my opinion. Arteza should rethink this increase on price. Myself -if it continues to increase as it currently has been I wonโt buy again. Iโm partial to PRISMA, however, These are softer than most other WAX pencils on the market other than PRISMA premier. Thus giving Arteza an edge above others on sheerness and layering ability. These are quality I will give 5 stars on that. I noticed that some of the darker colors do tend to be harder leads and thus blending the darker ones lessens. They are a smoother lay down than other comparable brands. DO NOT confuse these with oil based or watercolor pencils as those are different and lay down differently. Arteza has watercolor pencils as well. Make sure you order correct as I have made that error ๐ These are wax based. Iโve compared several brands to these and these are more like PRISMA than other brands. If I were comparing these wax based to an oil based pencil, Castle arts oil based run a close second in smoothness.. for an oil base brand. Anyhow, back to Arteza ๐ The blunting of the tips I think is to prevent breaking during shipping so youโll want to hone the tips by using them or a quick mini turn in a sharpener will remedy it. I had no issue using my hand sharpener to do it, only Took one turn to achieve a point. These are harder leads BUT SOFT LET ME BE CLEAR THESE ARE VERY NICE CREAMY PENCILS and less breaking is a good quality on any pencil. So all In all these are worth the purchase for quality, blending and color ability. The colors are PHENOMENAL I love they differ in all aspects as they add more choices to my collection. So, you will be happy with these... Price point Iโd definitely say is good but the recent increases has me a bit cranky.. Iโd rate these around a 50-60.00 dollar USD for the 120 set. 80.00 seems a tad HIGH. But Iโm not judging just one personโs opinion ๐ You canโt go wrong purchasing these though, any artist expert or beginner would find these workable and desirable. I tried to purchase the 120 set as it was prime item and delivery was next day, however once order was placed it said it would be 5 days so that upset me and I cancelled it because that shouldnโt be happening on prime delivery items. I was very dissatisfied with that aspect and I couldnโt get a straight answer from Amazon. As I wonโt let that reflect my product option ๐ That issue shouldnโt really be sellers fault, I was bummed that I wasnโt able to get my 120 set as promised right now. But maybe Iโll try again in the future because these are EXCELLENT pencils. So if you need them ASAP ask about arrival time from Amazon Iโm not sure if itโs due to holidays but it was upsetting I ordered them specifically because I was getting next day PRIME delivery And didnโt.. And itโs unfortunate there seems to be some discrepancy on shipping.

A lot of people compares Arteza pencils and prismacolor pencils. In my opinion, for students, beginners in art Arteza pencils are more easy to use and offers strong leads than prismacolor. Nowadays, cost a half part of prismacolor. If you not a professional, maybe is a very good choice. One point, maybe Arteza is not good enough, the can is a little fragile. That's all.
