If I wake up in the night I do like to know the time. For this purpose the clock is excellent. The display is red and is not obtrusive and doesn't keep me or my wife awake. I also like the fact that you van read the clock time during the day. Although there is a switch to raise or lower the brightness I have to say that it is not very effective, and during the day it can seem quite dim. That is the reason for me removing one star. Another positive is that the batteries 4xAA are supposed to last for a year. I can not comment as I've only just purchased the clock.
