Otamatone Japanese Lucky Cat [Maneki-Neko] Electronic Musical Instrument Portable Synthesizer from Japan by Cube / Maywa Denki, White with Red and Yellow Accent Color

Lovely otamatone/ otomotone. Original Japanese packaging all arrived in great condition. Instructions are in Japanese but Google translate on my phone made short work of those, and to be honest it's pretty self explanatory anyway. Batteries included and ready to have some fun making music. Design looks great too.

A little tricky to get the hang of, getting a smooth, loud, ear-splitting tone without crackling and juddering requires a bit of practice. Brings me back to when I was 7 and my parents foolishly bought me a tin whistle when they went to Ireland.

My young daughter loves it but its not something you could attempt to play as the sensitivity of it is poor. you have to push very hard and even then it often doesnt play the tones. I have seen videos where people slide a finger up and down, but that simply doesn't work with ours. Either we have one from a poor batch or the mini ones are just a novelty item.

It is a great fun musical instrument. Lovely packaging with well illustrated instructions in Japanese, complete with batteries. Great price and sent quickly and well packed.

The thing looks nice, but it's almost impossible to get a note out of it, however much pressure you put on the shaft/adjust your grip, and the build quality is terrible. Switches feel like they are broken, have to adjust half a dozen times to switch on/off or switch tone. Wasn't expecting more than a silly little toy, but was at least expecting it to function basically.

packaging was damaged. couldn’t get a refund even tho it was a christmas gift so that’s annoying. works fine- bit small but as advertised really
