Excellent grip and comfort, awful waterproofing/water resistance
I know reviews can often get confusing between specific products, so I am reviewing the "XPETI Men’s Thermator Mid-Rise Lightweight Hiking Insulated Non-Slip Outdoor Boots". I purchased these boots a few months ago specifically to take with me to Yellowstone National Park and surrounding areas in general. We planned to do a great deal of walking and hiking, and we knew the weather would be very rainy, wet and snowy at times. I spent a small amount of time using them around the house and out and and about just to get used to the feel. They did a great job with those "every day" type activities. On to hiking: These boots have outstanding grip and support. I walked over thick and thin ice, slush, rocks, loose dirt and gravel, slippery wet surfaces and asphalt. I absolutely recommend these boots when discussing specifically the support they give your feet and ankles when you need grip. They did everything I needed my boots to do in that regard, and I felt confident stepping and walking on any surface I came across. These boots are also quite warm. I worse some basic hiking socks, some thicker winter socks and just regular socks with them. In temperatures down to about 28-30 degrees F, I never had an issue with the cold (if my feet were dry - more on that below). Good stuff on the insulation. Now, the reason I can only give this three stars. I would actually give these less than three if I didn't really like wearing these for all of the reasons above. The boots I received are in no way, shape or form waterproof. They proved to even barely be water resistant. From walking in dew-covered, ankle high grass to light rain to heavy rain and foot-deep snow, my feet were wet within minutes every single time. This resulted in cold feet. Every single day I wore these while in Montana (except for when everything was completely dry) my feet and socks got wet. I had to stick these directly over heat vents in the RV for hours each night to somewhat dry them out for the next day. If both of my boots just happened to come defective, then so be it. I would accept that as an excuse. If they are not defective, then be wary: These provided very, very poor protection from water. The skin around the boot seemed to do a fine job with water resistance. I can't be sure, but it seems to me that water entered the boot at the point where the rubber meets that skin. Regardless, nothing I did except for literally avoiding water at all costs kept my feet dry. With that said, I actually really do like these boots. They look great, feel great and provide excellent support and grip. I regret my purchase because the primary reason I bought them is for the advertised water proofing.

Need to know the comfort level why wearing them.
Haven’t worn them yet, tried them on feels good, Looks good so I can’t give a five star rating.

Best grip on ice
This is a soft sole hybrid boot that runs about a half size larger. I use two pair of socks (one thin, one heavy) for best fit. PROS: 1. This has to be the BEST GRIP shoe/boot on ICE I ever owned. Multiple contact points of soft rubber to the ice/snow. I tried to slide on ice and I really had to work at it. My other boots with harder sole slide too easily. There is no leather in this shoe so for a high boot it is lite. CONS: 1. Runs larger by half size but isn’t narrow 2. Soft sole so I wouldn’t use this on dry pavement or hard ground ever they would wear fast. 3. Fabric cover so it needs to be waterproofed every so often (spray type) 4. In 25 degrees on snow not moving much my foot got cold but that may be for any boot when not moving on snow. 5. This shoe feels platformed so I stand at least an inch taller over my other boots which I don’t really like but given how grippy it is this is a small trade off. 6. No leather foot covering. If you drop anything on your foot you will feel it. The material is very flexible fabric hybrid and does not resist impact like leather would.
