Compared to the older water timers, this is the next generation. Easily programmed, it has been reliably watering my new grass seed 4 times a day for the last 10 days with no hitches. It keeps me in the loop with frequent status reports, and it even watches the weather reports to save water when it rains or add a bit when it’s extra hot. All this is fairly common for whole-yard irrigation systems, but above and beyond for a faucet switch. The app interface gives flow rates, which my main irrigation system does not. I’m very pleased.

This work great for gardens, drip lines and such. Have had the older model for 5 years. Bought this newer model to use in my garden and still using the old one for some drip lines.

Had GEN1 and it worked perfectly for 2 years. Thought it was lost so I ordered this new model. Determined the Rain delay could not be set/cancelled without timer disconnecting from Wifi Hub. Later found the GEN1 unit and it is showing the same problem. Apparently Orbit updated the App/firmware and now the setting/clearing of rain delay just does not work. All functions work via Bluetooth connection so as long as you do not try to set/clear rain delay on wifi, the system works.

This timer works great and I do love it but sometimes i want to trigger it manually and if I don’t have my phone on me I can’t do it. This particular unit would be best in a situation where you program it and never use it otherwise. That is the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.There is a single hose unit that has a digital read out and buttons though.The hub is fantastic. Without it you can only operate the timers or set up a schedule with bluetooth in close range- like within 5-10 feet, with it you can operate them from anywhere. You can connect multiple timers (they say up to 64) to one hub. I’m a big fan of all of their products. In the absence of a sprinkler system, these timers have helped me tremendously and saved me a lot of money since I don’t have to hire someone to water when I’m away.They are easy to install and set up in the app. I haven’t had any leakage problems.

Just love the app that is used

Battery life reporting keeps messing up and telling the app that the battery is at 0%. When Bluetooth connects it shows 100%. The app stops the connection with the unit when this happens. Makes the wifi connections useless and affects if the unit waters anything. Needs work to be a good purchase. Used energizer lithium batteries.

The previous version we had lasted six years and the brutal New Orleans hot humid swamp summers and a handful of freezing winter nights. We always disconnect and bring it in but didn’t this last time and it finished it off. Six years was a good run. The plastic connector had melted from the heat wave, so we knew it was about time to replace. The new updated units are even easier to set up. Appreciate the price staying consistent.

for whatever reason, the app tries its hardest to convince you the device does not work. upon startup, it immediately attempts a bluetooth connection indefinitely, despite having a wifi connection set up. (on iOS) you need to minimize the app and re-open it, ignore the bluetooth connection errors, and resume using it as normal. if you suspect connectivity issues, apparently the rssi value in the app is totally bogus. it always shows me a -88 value, even if i put it within a millimeter of a starlink satellite. i had to check my router administration page to see the actual connectivity, which was OK (-38 dBm in reality). finally, what really gave me high blood pressure, is when you first get the device, one would probably attempt to set a test schedule (outside of the device test step) to validate all is working fine. but what the device will do is skip your program schedule if it is not far enough in the future. for example, i have everything set up at 6:35pm -- i want to make sure everything is fine so i set it to run at 6:40pm, in 5 minutes. it will not run, and you will waste time troubleshooting the issue. what is not communicated to end users is that there is a schedule threshold -- it will not run if the scheduled time is too soon. i couldn't tell you what the threshold is, as it is not documented anywhere, and the manual doesn't even tell you how to install batteries. i found that scheduling a watering session at least ~20 minutes into the future will trigger as expected.despite these issues, 3/5, great device, works after tinkering. more than i can say of previous attempts using devices of other brands!

Used only a couple times.so far. Easy to setup. So far so good. I would buy again.

This came with US style plug, I don't understand why. I can't use it now.

So happy with this unit! The set up took only a few minutes, and it worked perfectly right off the bat. I love being able to control it from my phone. I will be purchasing more of these!
