The Ghost in the Shell Deluxe Complete Box Set

I'm a long time Shirow fan, and this collection is worth every penny. Don't put a lot of stock in the technical complaints some reviewers posted about the color conversion, and paper stock. It's a beautiful collection. I was hesitant to purchase only because I had read most of it in prior released volumes, and individual comics back in the late 90s. However the singular thing that drove me to seal the deal was the many infantile complaints of so called "fan service". Yes, volume 3 is very stimulating, and incredible. If you are purchasing manga for children, you need to do a little research first, before you trash a master's vision. I have been a huge fan of Masamune Shirow for years. I’ve owned a few publications of his work in my life but have lost, damaged or given everything away over time… I just never committed myself to truly collecting for one reason or another, even though I’ve grown up on Anime and Manga. I recently decided to become a legit collector and this was a great place to start. The box the books come in is sturdy and so far, second only to my Akira box set collection, which is the best quality box I’ve ever seen. It holds all three books together nicely and looks great. The books themselves are even more sturdy. The hard covers look amazing and the pages and printing are done very well. The binding is above average quality, and even though I have been thru each book multiple times, they hold up very well and still look brand new. You can’t even tell they’ve been opened or read - which is a testament to how well they’ve been made. The only word of caution I would offer is for parents. The third book flaunts the female form and nudity and is not kid friendly. Anime and Manga can be tricky to navigate in this regard. It’s easy to fall into stories and subject matter unexpectedly without any real warning. While this collection doesn’t venture into Ecchi or Hentai territory - it isn’t something most adults want young impressionable minds to look at. This isn’t input to police what other people allow in their homes. It’s a sincere bit of insight for returning fans who may have forgotten how “flashy” the books actually are. To each their own. Just be aware as nostalgia is usually built in with a little amnesia. Other than that, this is a quality collection. I don’t regret buying it at all. I would highly recommend it and am 100% pleased with the company I ordered it from and the manner in which it was delivered. Zero regrets.

Very high quality printing, hardcovers feel like they'll last a long time. GITS is a classic and if you haven't at least seen the movie and SAC, you're doing yourself a disservice. The Manga is of course beautifully illustrated, and I highly recommend this set.

I have not had time to read it yet, though I am DYING to! But aesthetically speaking, I am in LOVE with this box set. I literally just sat for about an hour staring at the covers and just admiring this beautiful work of art

This is a fantastic box set containing all of the Dark Horse floppies that came out in the 90's and then some. The limited print that is included with this set isn't very impressive, but the nice hardcover editions make up for that big time. If you missed out on any of these Shirow comic books from back in the day, you will want to pick this up. My only issue with this collection is that it's bound in the traditional Manga read-it-backwards right to left pagination. The original comic books collected in these box set volumes were all published traditional left to right.

Never had a chance to start reading but I went trough the books , they came in perfect shape, no damage. The books look fantastic , wish they were fully colored but that's OK ! I will update once I start reading them.

This is supposedly the definitive edition, put out by Kodansha and Shirow Sensei without a certain scene that you probably either love or hate. Overall, Ghost In The Shell is a story that took me a few reads to really grasp. There are a lot of little details and you can tell that the author really spends the time to develop the world, giving us bits and pieces of info about it along the way. It’s fun to read this now, so many years on, and the art still holds up well. It’s the major selling point for me, honestly, and keeps me flipping through the pages to this day.

Great censored version of the original, but I can't really argue with the creators reasons for doing so. Minor shipping damage to one corner, which is a regular occurance with Amazon. Would recommend to fans of Ghost in the Shell.

Ghost in the shell pretty much inspired a lot of projects in the Cyberpunk Genre. It's my favorite anime and have probably consumed every single piece of content. The Box set is amazing. All hard cover with few pages colored. Censored a bit nothing major that would affect the storyline. It's amazing to see how something about the future was so ahead of it's time.

Brilliant collectors set very well made and presented worth every penny simply a must have for any ghost in the shell fan or manga fan as even new readers to ghost will love the art style and all round setting of this gritty grim future although it is slightly different from the films and is completely separate from SAC this is still perfect for any ghost fan
