One of the Best Movies Out There
Awesome movie, one of my favorites. Happy to be able to have it on 4K. Case and discs came in mint condition and the digital copy worked too.

Surprisingly Sweet...and Dramatic...
Who thought Jim Carrey could do drama. Well, he does it rather well here. You'd barely associate the man you see on your screen with the likes of Ace Ventura, Lloyd Christmas, or Stanley Ipkiss. Truman Burbank is sweet, charming, certainly naive, and unknowingly the world's biggest television star. This is one of those movie premises that you don't think will work, but it works in this film. The way this world was built around our leading man to keep him in the dark is conceivably possible, though one has to wonder how the guys behind all this got the money to create this world...it had to cost a few million, or even billion, dollars. I also thought the casting of Ed Harris as the head producer was a bit odd as it seemed to be a subdued role for him...I'm just used to seeing him in roles where he is able to let the whole room, and the audience, know that he is present and is to be respected accordingly. To get my point (hopefully I'm making one), watch Con Air. But Mr. Harris actually did well, even though I wanted him to be more in-everyone's-faces as in his other movies. But he didn't do badly. Overall, I liked this film and I'd watch again somewhere down the road. One nice thing that this movie doesn't do is give a predictably ending right from the first minute...you really can't figure out anything about the ending, so there is a sense of suspense, eve if there's not supposed to be. It's a good film and actually allows Jim Carrey to show some range in his acting ability...some range...there are still a few, probably unintentional, callbacks to the movies that made him a household name. But he did good and the movie was good. A solid four stars. Enjoy.

THE TRUMAN SHOW 4K UHD + BLU-RAY
Paramount Studios releases on both 4K UHD and Blu-ray this 1998 comedy drama directed by Peter Weir and starring Jim Carrey as Truman Burbank, a married insurance agent living in a seaside community who comes to suspect that his life is somehow not what it seems, and how this is true in ways he hadn't imagined. Ed Harris plays Christoff, who is the man behind Truman's public reality show, and the secret to his entire past, though Truman has definite ideas about his future... Looking quite good in HD, a definite upgrade over the 2005 DVD, porting over those extras, though nothing new was added. I am not presently able to view the UHD version, though will update if that changes. Good picture has excellent performances and direction, though "The Twilight Zone" once did this similar premise in an episode called 'A World of Difference'. Still a most worthwhile film however, with a perfect ending. Comes with a slipcover.

Funny and heartfelt, and more relevant than ever.
The Truman Show foreshadowed a world of endless "reality" entertainment, average lives lived on screens in front of millions of strangers, and the potential consequences of it all. Even without this prescient social commentary, this is still a warm, funny, melancholy movie about personal discovery and growth that is enjoyable end to end. By far, one of Jim Carrey's best performances.

Un incontournable classique qui décrit à merveille notre réalité actuelle si l'on est quelque soit peu "reveillé" hors de la "matrix":-)

A true masterpiece and just like the Matrix it's more like a documentary than a film..

A classic film with endless replay value. Lots of details you can enjoy on later viewings. The Blu-Ray provides sharp detail, which can be lost when streaming online.
