The Story of Paintings: A History of Art for Children

I recently got this art book for my daughter to use in our homeschool, for art and it’s been a wonderful resource! The content is perfectly suited for her age, with important information about artist and art . It is not long and boring . I love that it balances both learning and fun, making art an enjoyable part of our homeschool routine. We talk about the artist , their art and we try to recreate it. Unfortunately at schools they don’t talk much about famous artists or musicians. Highly recommend it for any parent looking to nurture their child’s artistic talents!

So good. Helped my daughter understand the fundamentals of art and appreciate great artists and how they created great masterpieces. I searched around for a good book on this subject and this one is fantastic.

Bought this after my 7-year granddaughter attended art camp. She was so hooked on knowing more about classical artists. She spends hours learning more in this book! Kid-friendly.

I'm always searching for books to keep in my art classroom, so I was super excited about this one. Unfortunately, I can't use it in my classroom without censoring it (which I hate doing, because it's art, for crying out loud). So, if you teach in an elementary public school, it's probably not classroom safe. Great to keep at home, though.

A great book for my young Art History students to look through and for me to gather information from.

This book is informative and the pictures are absolutely beautiful. Really good for an introduction to art for kiddos.

Nice book for children to explore and learn more about famous artists.

Fabulous

This is an interesting book on Paintings that are famous in the classical Art sense. (These are not contemporary painters). I think these is still a very good book for children to begin to find about the History of Art and the most famous Paintings in the world. Frieda Kahlo is the only female Artist in the book. I don't really think this is much of a surprise. She is also my favourite female Artist and I am pleased to see her in here. I take this as a First book to get interest in painting which might already be known to children as they are often very well know. After that more definitive books can be read and the Art Topic expanded and explored as much as is wanted really. The topic goes back to the lovely and mysterious Lascaux Cave Paintings and then up to 1982. Which is a good range of time I think. The paintings are shown in a large format and la good quality printing. I think this book is a good place to start.
