OverDryve 7C Portable Vehicle GPS Unit

Very capable multifunctional GPS with Bluetooth and WIFI and handsfree calling.

Extremely difficult to navigate the menu. I like the voice guide and the large screen, but it’s very time consuming and difficult to program, and even then, it’s hard to tell if it’s actually been programmed or not. Too much time spent sitting on the side of the road trying to figure out if it’s working or not. I wish I’d bought the Garmin or TomTom instead.

I bought this used/returned because my last one exactly like this one was stolen. It works perfectly and is one of the most accurate GPS’s on the market. When this one dies i will upgrade to the newer version. It’s way cheaper than buying a car with one built into it. Don’t waste your money on vehicles with built in GPS. If you have to replace it you will spend big money. Save yourself some money and buy the newer version of this GPS. I recommend it.

Maps are outdated, verbal instructions are slow on advanced warning. Address routines and options are not easy to use. I eventually reverted to my iphone and now have no probelms in navigation when I use google maps. Thus the RM7 is redundant.

Great especially for low price

I have owned many portable gps navigation devices since the early 1990’s The old Magellan company had great customer support but it was sold to a foreign company and the support went south. After several devices that malfunctioned and no support from Magellangps I decided to try the oldest brand in road maps, Rand McNally. I purchased a OverDryve 7C which had great features Listed. 7” display, Bluetooth, WiFi, etc and lifetime map updates. The device worked great for a year. However at 2 and a half years I have had zero map updates. I have contacted Rand McNally support and got zero real support. In the last month the device was hard to boot up even when fully charged. Fortunately I purchased a 3 year protection plan when I purchased the device. I filed a claim with Asurion and the claim was approved. I do not recommend Rand McNally automotive gps devices. Their promise of “lifetime” map updates is a lie. This is also true for Magellangps. I really am not sure that any of these companies are honest and straightforward. None of them do the map software in-house. It is purchased from other software companies. My best advice is to do your research carefully and contact the company directly BEFORE making a product purchase. From my experiences, I am totally disappointed with both Rand McNally and Magellangps.

Over the years, I've owned many GPS, including Tom Tom, Magellan and Garmin (mid to high end models). This GPS comes with a large screen, but heavy and bulky. Magnetic mount is a plus. Too bad power source is not integrated into the mount. Bought this to complement on board Nav for a coast to coast trip.

This product only came with a quick Gide not a user manual. Called there support number and was told they could only get me a phone download no paper copy. On the road not able to read there manual on my phone. Absolutely useless piece of garbage without a manual.
