Five star
Superb. Replaced my combo speaker with this and this sounds so much better. It's lighter than my old one too. Has a clear sound.

Great tone/excellent upgrade for Marshall cabinets and more.
I replaced the stock G12T-75 speakers in my Marshall 1922 cabinet with G12M-65 Creambacks recently. The stock speakers had a lot of high and low end, with a scooped-out midrange - fine for a lot of modern guitar sounds but, to me, often sounding simultaneously muddy and harsh. The Creambacks produce a much smoother sound, with a rich, musical midrange that lets the natural voices of my guitars come through much better. Compared to Celestion's Vintage 30s, which I've also used, they don't seem as loud - but still loud enough that a 15 watt amp driving the 2x12 is enough to leave my ears ringing. And the Creambacks have a slightly darker tone than the Vintage 30s without the slightly nasal peak in the high-mids. I'd choose the Creambacks every time. But tone is a very personal and subjective thing. So what I would say is that, if you're thinking about a speaker upgrade for a cabinet or combo to tame an overly shrill, scratchy sound, or if just you want a more "vintage" tone these speakers are well worth checking out.

I replaced the stock Peavey Sheffield 1230 speaker in my Peavey Bandit 112. The Sheffield is a good speaker and some like it, but I found it to be overly middle to high mid forward sounding (clear yet too much in your face), lacking in the low mid (body and warmth), and can get harsh in the treble. Thus, I replaced the Sheffield with a Celestian G1265M Creamback (8 Ohm) and now the amp has a tight low end (slightly less than the G1275M Creamback), good low mid warmth and growl, and a fairly less mid forward sound while still retaining good clarity. I have, however, had to dial back both treble and presence control when compared to the stock speaker, but the Creamback seems to add a balance amount of gain (much wider bandwidth) in the treble and presence region that were missing in the stock speaker which makes the Creamback overall much smoother in sound even when having to dial back treble and presence controls to avoid harshness. With that said, I am happy with the overall sound of the Creamback and in particular the overdrive tones via pedals which are full, smooth, and clear with little to no ice-picky highs. Context is everything so the M Creamback may or may not fit well to your amp and guitar setup and for the tone you are looking for.

I acquired a Marshall Valvestate VS65R from a friend of mine and anyone who owns one of these hybrid amps from the 90s knows they are notoriously flat, lifeless, and possess a shrill tone lacking any kind of warmth. It was for this reason that this amp lived in my basement for a few years. I was just never happy with the way it sounded. I recently revisited this amp and a thought crossed my mind. Maybe it’s not the amp, but perhaps it’s the speaker. Enter the 65 watt Celestion G12 M Cream Back. After a fairly straight forward and easy speaker installation in the cabinet, it completely transformed my amp from a soulless, trebley mess to a full, rich, dynamic sounding amp. I finally have those warm, rich lows the other speaker was lacking yet the highs still sparkle. I’m so glad I decided to rehab this amp. Let this be a lesson to anyone unhappy with the way an amp sounds. It’s probably not your amp that sucks. It’s most likely just a low quality speaker.

Replaced a 70 80 with this in my amplifier, which is sort of a 30 watt Vox clone. Fit perfectly, good price point, tamed the super high frequencies and made my Firebird sound more well rounded. Has a nice British roar. Classic sort of rock tone but very smooth for clean playing as well. Came perfect with no damage or such. Says made in UK on it, and other models are made elsewhere, so maybe they used classic methods and tooling.

I bought this speaker to replace the stock speaker in a 50W, 1x12 combo with a stock speaker from Eminence. I wanted a speaker with a good, well-rounded character, but cannot choose a G12M-30 because it does not handle as much power as I require. I have found the Creamback to be a gigantic improvement from the stock speakerwith very tasty mids and a more refined top end. I play mostly rock, blues, and metal. The speaker works well in many respects, but does not have the "airy", clear character of a V30, but is rather darker in comparison, so the metal tones suffer accordingly. Nonetheless, I suspect that it would pair well with a V30 in a 2x12 cabinet. I have found that it particularly excels with rock tones which emphasize the midrange. Overall, this speaker is a great choice that meets the 50W power handling requirement I had, and I would probably choose this same speaker again if given the chance.

I used the Creamback as a replacement for the G-12H in my Matchless Spitfire. The original speaker was very harsh and brittle to my ear as well as being made in China. The Creamback sounds fantastic in my Spitfire. Smooth mids and no ice picky highs! And it's made in the UK
