I love these things. I have four cats and a dog the one cat wanna sit on the countertops and pee in the sink. Not anymore once he stepped on this one time never stepped on it again and the other cats didn’t even attempt to step on it. I also put them across my brand new couch so they can’t sit there, but I got them a nice new cat condo so they basically have their own couch. 😂 these things are really great. I highly recommend them. I also put them on one of my windowsills that they can’t sit on they work great maybe I can even have plants in my house now!!

These mats do the job! They keep our cat off my desk when I’m working and off the top of our aquarium. I even trimmed small strips and applied them to the top of a wall mounted tv to keep the cat from practicing her balancing routine. They are quite pokey, sharper than I expected while still being flexible. They cut easily with scissors, so you can modify them to fit different areas. I ordered more for our camper door and applied them with alien tape—no more climbing the screen. I then bought more and put them outdoors to keep strays from sneaking into our yard. (Not as effective because they leap over the mats).

I can see how many cats would be thwarted by these scat mats—unfortunately, my cat wasn't one of them. The mats did keep her at bay for a day. When she actually touched them she pulled her paw back and shook it like she'd touched a hot stove. I think these mats would work well for most cats. They were easy to place, and I liked the fact they could be cut (if needed). I think they'd hold up well. I was able to hang two of the mats on the front of a cupboard that my cat kept trying to open. The mats worked at keeping her from pawing at the cabinet. They did not defeat her from walking on the counter. She is a petite cat and she was able to place her paws between the pointed deterrents. Prior to purchasing, I'd read a lot reviews dismayed at the appearance and suggesting cats would suffer. I don't think that's the case because most cats would try once and then avoid. While they didn't work in our case, if you've got a cat you want to keep from an area, I think you should give them a try.

This is great! I have a table height media cabinet in front of my wall-mounted TV. Recently my cat would climb up and touch, claw at, the screen. I tried putting aluminum foil on the table, then I tried wetting the foil, but I usually had to resort to shutting him in a bedroom. Today I put this product on the table and I can finally enjoy watching TV with Banjo on my lap. He figured it out immediately, so this is not cruel; just effective.

If your cat is a heathen, this may not work. I placed these in and around one of my plants and the cats seemed to get it, with the exception of one who we will HellClaws for this recipe. HC stalked and studied the plant and mats like a lone navy seal with no care who could see them or maybe that was a decoy. I don’t know. The other cats had long lost interest in I thought I was in the clear as these were easy to place and cut to mold into a proper stable and sturdy defense perimeter for the indoor plants. I even placed cat grass on the opposite side to provide some sort of reward for leaving the plant the f alone. Not this mf HC. Late one night, he breached the perimeter and the plants were down. I believe HC decided to throw their body onto the plants to move them, thus avoiding touching the perimeter. HC is a husky cat so it distance and dispersion of plant and soil I found from the mats confirm this and their effectiveness. I still give the product 5 stars because the machination HC devised to get past these mats was biblical. HC did not appear to make contact with any of the mats which appears to remain in their original configuration. The mats were easy to clean as all I had to do was shake the soil off and pick the plants up. I tried another method and glued/taped pieces of the mat on the plant pot. That very night HC launched their body like a missile into the plant. The video capture was quite.. a scene. It captured crazy and confidence with speed and agility. The normal cats still do not go near the mats,, even when they are just left out. While HC looks for a target that the mat is “protecting” to take down.

This is an edit 7 months after I originally placed the mats all over the counters to keep her off. It has been a success—my cat has NEVER tried to jump up on the countertops even when she hears and sees me removing them for meal prep. This was an EXCELLENT purchase that solved the dangerous problem. Just remember to show your cat what you are doing and leaving one on the floor for them to try. Fully explain it and why and they will learn and remember it. Original Post: I only ordered these as a last resort after trying for 8 months to keep my new fur-baby kitty off of the counters and then working her way up to dangerous heights and places. So when I received these I placed several on the floor in front of her and I stepped on it and then yelled OW! It does hurt. Then I showed her me placing them around all over the counters with the edge of them showing (so she would know they are there) and I explained why I was using them to keep her off. I left the one on the floor for her to try which she did and quickly withdrew her foot. I later saw her trying to power her way through it unsuccessfully. She was still trying it the next day. She tried once jumping up but quickly rebounded off. She never acted injured afterward but now she no longer tries. However she still looks for the edges of them hanging over to show her they are still there. She has grown and is now about one inch short of touching the overhang which I believe she plans to try to pull down when I am out or sleeping. We will see. If she succeeds I will post my solution. Please be sure they understand you still love them. I bought mine some tunnels to play inside of. One in the kitchen and one in the living room which have helped to preoccupy her attention.

I purchased these to keep my cats off the counter. The issue with these is that the method to which you are expected to connect each pad together is very basic and does not hold without the included sticky dots. They include a fair amount of the sticky dots but over time needing to re apply or move the pads around I can see you running out in less than a year. when you connect the pads together there is enough of a gap between spikes for your cat to place their paws between them and move around freely in your guarded area. I ended up not being able to use them on my counter as they did not cover enough area. So I ended up using them to stop our cats from attacking our house plants by cutting the pads to create NO space between the spikes and applying around the base of the plant on the floor in such a way so the cats can not extend their bodies past the spikes. This worked, however the cats figured out quickly they could just slide the spikes out of their way. Using the sticky dots I stuck the pads to the ground which angered the little helions and they just decided to live with the pain and walk on them to go for the plants. I wish the pads worked but unfortunately they do not. I gave this a 3 star because I think these would work for younger cats but once they start getting around the 4-6 month range I don't think these will work any longer. Good product, bad cats.

These mats work pretty well for my kittens. The male stays away however the female has managed to walk in between the mats on a couple of occasions. The adhesive dots that come with them aren’t even worth using. I bought some double sided mounting tape to stick them to my granite counters. I think the value is decent for the price, and worth trying if your kitties are a little too curious.

My cat climbs right on these so it definitely wasn’t what I was looking for :( and the adhesive stickers are super weak so they moved easily and often

These work great, they keep my cats off my counters. They tried once and never again. Don't worry my cats were fine too, no damage on there paws. They get startled so fast they don't get hurt.

I put these on top of a shag rug that my cat was doing his business on… He is smart enough to know that he should not walk on them and has returned to doing his business in the litter box. I will leave them out a while longer nonetheless because they are clear and don’t look horrific. I have a multi cat household, and they are all smart enough to not hurt themselves on the mats. Their curiosity was piqued, and they touched them with their paws, but did not make any attempt to walk on them. Me, on the other hand, I accidentally stepped on one, and I nearly did a 360 in the air… Lol.
