I had a several mockingbirds trying to take up residence in a large bush/tree beside my house. We think they came here from another house where they cut back all the big bushes. Anyway They made the most awful loud squawking noise throughout the day disturbing me while working from home. They would also fly by and dive bomb my cat when she tried to sit on the porch, intimidating her making her hide and try to come side. I researched how to get rid of them as they were becoming a nuisance to me and my cat and found this big beautiful horned owl. I sat him up on the city recycle bin right next to the tall bush/tree they had taken over. Amazingly, silence, nothing but the peaceful sound of regular birds chirping. After a day or so I moved him to the other blue recycle bin, as recommended, to make him look more life like. Sweet silence. I love this guy! When I opened the big box he was much bigger than I expected. The color and markings are very realistic and attractive. His eyes look so real! They look like glass and almost light up. It is plastic and feels light, but there is a hole in the bottom with a stopper that you can remove and fill with rocks, etc. to weight it down to stabilize it. I love this guy not only because he backs those mockingbirds up but he is beautiful - he is truly an asset to my yard. Would buy again 💯 percent!

Works great keeping the sparrows away from devouring all the feed at my bird feeders. We move it a few feet once a week to keep the effect real.

Even though it is make from plastic, it is quite a nice likeness of an owl. But the thing is... Scare wildlife? I have squirrels, rabbitts, and ground hogs in my yard. Maybe they have never seen an owl before, but they looked at the thing like... meh, what is that? I imagine this video in my head, with the critters rolling on their backs, pointing at the "owl" and laughing their backsides off. Yeah, its a cool piece, I like it, but its not much of a scarecrow... I ended up leaving it on my kitchen table.

Works great!!!!! Keeps the squirrels (the sworn enemy of our dog) away but not the birds in our wooded PNW yard. The only problem is the squirrels have now moved to our side yard. So am ordering a second one as soon as I finish this review. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is it would be great if it came with a plug for the hole in the bottom. It is very lightweight and blows over if you don’t fill it or stake it. UPDATE to 5 STARS! This owl works so great at keeping the squirrels away that I ordered a second one, since the squirrels were smart enough to just move to our side yard to avoid the front yard owl. The second one came with a plug (which I complained about in the original review). So I emailed the vendor about the first one missing a plug and they sent me a plug right away. Nice recovery for a small quality control issue.

This fake owl arrived exactly as pictured and was easy to set up and use. Initially, it did work—within the first few days it successfully scared away a large bird that had been perching on my screen and leaving a mess on my patio. Unfortunately, the effectiveness didn’t last long. Because the owl is completely stationary, the birds eventually figured out it wasn’t real and returned as if nothing had changed. I wish I had known ahead of time that the deterrent effect would be so temporary. While the product looks fine and is simple to use, it was only effective for a very short period. If you’re considering this, be aware that without movement or repositioning, birds quickly catch on.

We had birds nesting under an overhang dropping their poo on our bbq grill, our patio and the dog's kennel including the dog's food n water bowls. They were dive bombing our vehicles AND the birds were entering our garage when the big door was up or the small door was open thereby becoming trapped therefore succumbing to their death after head butting the glass window too many times in their efforts to escape. I bought a couple of these owls, a couple of the hawks as well as several snake replicas including a very realistic cottonmouth and rattlesnake. Together these have done the trick! The owls and hawks are hanging by durable fishing wire in several strategic places. They are hanging in the areas we want to deter birds and where a breeze can gently spin these replicas to add realism. As these bird replicas are all placed by different doors and different overhangs I know each of them are indeed responsible for their area being free of poo! The snakes are intertwined in chain link and the larger replica snakes are out front along the garage wall on each side of the large garage door, so are "guarding" different areas. The birds now stay away from our garage, patio and dog kennel. Since literally the week after I placed our replica critters I have not found *any* bird poo on our patio, our BBQ grill nor in the dog's bowls. No more birds in our garage, either! Wow, such an easy quick fix! I happen to collect owl statues, simple statues did NOT work. It took these life-like replicas to deter the persistent birds. Be sure to hand these birds by fishing wire or other durable means as cotton twine quickly degraded allowing our high drive dogs to have a new play toy. Despite getting somewhat crushed and chewed, this life-like replica is still performing as intended. This fake owl keeps a nasty woodpecker off the front of our house. The bird comes around in the fall so I set this up on a table on our front porch area and scares the woodpecker off so rest of year it's stored in garage. I added sand to give it extra weight so wind doesn't blow it over.

It kept the birds from crapping on my window in my sunroom. I put it on the roof of my sunroom for a few days , then moved it to the lawn . Seems to work , haven’t had to rewash windows …
