Didn’t really like the wood block but it’s ok

First of all, if you need a knife that isn't in this block, you don't really need it! These are very well made knives that are solid and feel wonderful in my hand. Right out of the box, they were incredibly sharp and the design on the blade is very pretty. Not real Damascus Steel, cause...well it can't be, but the design is well done. I really like that the sharpeners are built into the block itself, no chance of losing them in the chaos of my kitchen! However, I either didn't pay super close attention to the dimensions when I ordered it or it wasn't listed, but if you have limited counter space, know that the block is big. I also have some concerns on the serrated end of the steak knives...I hope they hold because those can't really be sharpened by me, or anyone I know. For now, they are great but am holding a star in reserve until I see how long they will last.

Decent product but will need one of the knifes swapped out

I’ve always know with knives that you get what you pay for and have always owned a reasonably good set of kitchen knives made for a typical household. With this set, I definitely feel you actually get a little more than what you pay for. Certainly these are not the most expensive knives you can get, but with the price of admission, that says a lot. What you get: -Low profile block -A slot on either side, one for minor sharpening, one for honing. The honing slot takes the place of the iron that is typically included in most knife sets. -If you’re a steak lover, you can have your extended family over and still have knives to go around. -A pair of kitchen shears that are well made and extremely sharp. -A small and large bread knife. -2 paring knives -A utility knife -A chefs knife -A santoku knife -A slicing (boning) knife These knives will come honed to an extremely fine razor’s edge, as in be very careful even when unpacking them razor’s edge. Before ordering, I was a little unsure regarding the white handles, but once I put them in the kitchen, I found that they actually have a really nice look. It would go with a lot of styles. We prefer retro/ industrial style design and the white handles compliment that. The experience: Using these knives is a crash course in culinary cutlery excellence, particularly for anyone who hasn’t had a set of high quality kitchen knives. One of the first gifts I bought my wife when we were dating was a set of kitchen knives. Not because I am a chauvinist, but because they were so abysmal, I couldn’t stand to watch her cook for me with them ( that’s sort of a joke but in truth, she’s very talented.). That experience made me really understand what a difference good quality cutlery can make. This set puts all but one set of kitchen knives I have owned to shame. Included in the pictures are 2 that show where the larger knife’s balance point, if knife balance is a deciding factor for you. However, all of them are well balanced, with comfortable, easy to clean handles. If a high quality knife set is in your future, jump to this level of cutlery, you won’t regret it.

There are without a doubt the sharpest kitchen knives I have ever seen! The edge is so keenly honed it looks like it will cut a steak without ever touching the meat! (I feel like a surgeon!) The handles are nicely made and have the look of an expensive bone handle with a metal cap on the end, though I'm sure they are a high quality plastic. As others have said the small knife doesn't set as well in the block as the others because of the size. The wood block is also well made of glued up solid wood with a clear finish on the top and sides, but not on the bottom. As a woodworker this makes no sense to me since you definitely what to prevent any liquid from soaking into the bottom possibly causing swelling or splitting of the wood. But all the other positive features of this set pretty much negate that small issue. The set is also packaged in an attractive box making it a great gift for a newly married couple - just make sure they realize how sharp these knives are! They are expensive, but should last a lifetime if cared for properly - and the happy couple will remember who gave them the gift for a long time.

I see some comments and I can’t believe people don’t know this DONT WASH THIS KNIFES IN THE DISHWASHER NO HOT WATER ONLY COLD WATER WHEN YOU WASH YOUR KNIFES !!!

I received the delivery okay but no scissors were included. I’ve written to the manufacturer but haven’t received a reply after three days. It’s a real pain to return this items 14 days to get your money back very bad service.
