When the Ramones left the confines of CBGB's in 1976--where they had developed their earmark three-chord speed delivery--and took the show on the road to England, they set the punk-rock juggernaut rolling. It can't be stressed enough how influential these boys from Forest Hills, Queens, were on Britain's emerging punk-rock scene, but a few seconds into It's Alive and it's easy to tell why. It's Alive captures the phenomenon of the Ramones at their peak and in their element: live and sweaty. The first half-dozen songs race by in the blink of an eye. "Rockaway Beach", "Teenage Lobotomy", "Blitzkrieg Bop" and "I Wanna Be Well" practically melt together in a three-chord melange, Tommy never letting up on the frantic beat and Joey pausing barely long enough to breathlessly shout, "One two three four!" before launching into the next set. Twenty-eight songs clock in under 48 minutes--talk about a land-speed record. No subtleties of production or tweaking are needed here to capture the Ramones' live sound. Plug them in, turn everything up to 10 and let it rip It's Alive is not just the best Ramones album, it is easily the best live punk-rock album of all time and perhaps one of the best live albums ever recorded. --Tod Nelson ItS Alive - CD No. Disks or Items: 1 Product Type: Music / CD - Genre / Rock 1 - 1 - Rockaway Beach - 02:24 1 - 2 - Teenage Lobotomy - 01:55 1 - 3 - Blitzkrieg Bop - 02:05 1 - 4 - I Wanna Be Well - 02:23 1 - 5 - Glad To See You Go - 01:51 1 - 6 - Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment - 01:37 1 - 7 - You're Gonna Kill That Girl - 02:37 1 - 8 - I Don't Care - 01:46 1 - 9 - Sheena Is A Punk Rocker - 02:16 1 - 10 - Havana Affair - 01:35 1 - 11 - Commando - 01:40 1 - 12 - Here Today, Gone Tomorrow - 02:55 1 - 13 - Surfin' Bird - 02:20 1 - 14 - Cretin Hop - 01:58 1 - 15 - Listen To My Heart - 01:40 1 - 16 - California Sun - 01:45 1 - 17 - I Don't Wanna Walk Around With You - 01:25 1 - 18 - Pinhead - 02:46 1 - 19 - Do You Wanna Dance? - 01:39 1 - 20 - Chainsaw - 01:29 1 - 21 - Today Your Love, Tomorrow The World - 02:06 1 - 22 - I Wanna Be A Good Boy - 02:10 1 - 23 - Judy Is A Punk - 01:13 1 - 24 - Suzy Is A Headbanger - 01:53 1 - 25 - Let's Dance - 02:03 1 - 26 - Oh Oh I Love Her So - 01:40 1 - 27 - Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue - 01:18 1 - 28 - We're A Happy Family - 02:06 Release Date : unknown Dimensions: W: 164mm x L: 150mm x H: 10mm Weight: 96g Barcode: 0093624604525 Catalogue No.: 9362460452 Review: top cd - great album, so good to listen to a great band, well worth the price. Review: We accept you, one of us! - This is what Ramones fans have waited so long to see - the NYE Rainbow concert - you can actually feel the hairs standing up on the back of your neck as your eyes and ears feast on this DVD masterpiece. Just buy this DVD for this classic performance alone. As all die-hard Ramones fans know the 'Its Alive' Album is the best live recording of a band- ever. It's like plugging yourself into the mains for an hour - high energy, unrelenting,'take no prisoners' punk rock.Totally draining and totally satisfying at the same time. My son asked me today what it was like to go to a Ramones concert.'It was like a religious experience', I told him! The original tapes of the album should now be digitally re-mastered and re-issued. This DVD is what the 1996 'We're Outta Here' should have been like - instead of the mess that director Kevin Kerslake made of it. How Gary Kurfirst and Ira Lippy could have allowed the final Ramones concert to have been so poorly recorded for posterity I will never know. The Its Alive DVD meanwhile is outstanding and a fitting tribute to da brudders. The Ramones were heaven sent and it's from there that Joey, Johnny and Dee Dee now look down on us enjoying this live performance - as we enjoyed them live at the The Electric Ballroom, the Town and Country Club,Hammersmith Palais, Brixton Academy, Brighton, Friars Aylesbury etc etc.Buy it now!

The Brothers Ramone at their absolute peak, a stunning package, vinyl is faultless and the complete gigs on CD are fabby. I loved this band before I'd heard a note. Bought the 1st album in the late lamented Phoenix Records on release day, I got this at an excellent price which makes it all the better. YOU NEED THIS ALBUM.

a review AFTER watching the dvd
Without doubt a great collection. I went straight to the IT'S ALIVE show (who wouldnt). There are a few loops and edits but nothing really to take away from this incredible release. Listening to it's alive then, after all these years to watch a good chunk of the show is awesome. the fact that a few songs arent there (yet!) sheena, rockaway and lobotomy, does not diminish the viewing. The US festival 82 has been given the Ed stasium production treatment and is very solid work. The early footage is fantastic taking into account the age and the technology available at the time, you also get the famous musikladen 78 show, bar a few songs originally aired and 4 songs from the legendary Don Kirscher show, just to name a few. quality of picture is mostly excellent! There are demo videos for KKK, drink, and 9-5 world. some lip synchs here and there regarding other shows. the user interface allows just one song to be chosen if required. i could go on but there is no point, there is a lot of footage to get through for the viewer. only a pernickety sourpuss would find fault. buy it and enjoy.

its alive
great live album, only problem is it a bit quieter than the loco live album, maybe because its a lot older recording, its also not played as quick as loco live, but its far better in terms of vocals

The Ramones at their Magnificent Best!
If you're any kind of Ramones fan, then you have to buy this. It's worth it for the three extra full shows from the end of that amazing tour. And the sound quality is superb. 'It's Alive' was always one of the best live albums ever made, now it's effectively 4 times that. The package is superb with a great booklet. I'll probably never play the vinyl records (I don't even have a turntable anymore) but it's worth having for the whole epic masterpiece. BUY IT!!

Less chords than Quo!
I love the Ramones. They probably know one less chord than the mighty Status Quo (who were in search of the fourth chord!) but to me that's not necessarily a bad thing. I like the humour as well in their songs - We're a Happy Family, Teenage Lobotomy, Cretin Hop, Pinhead to name some. Other are just pure rock 'n' roll like Rockaway beach, Blitzkreig Bop, Sheena is a Punk Rocker and more. Great driving songs, turned up loud on a sunny day, brilliant.
