BougeRV 12v refrigerator 23 Quart with Cover, -8℉~50℉ Portable Freezer

It has been close to a year since I purchased this Fridge, and I want to leave my honest review. I’ve been using the BougeRV 23qt since July 2024 for my Jeep Gladiator, and I can confidently say it has exceeded all expectations. I currently have a 50qt ARB fridge that I use on my off-road teardrop trailer. Comparing to this one to the ARB which is much more expensive, this compact fridge performs extremely well above its weight in performance, reliability, and value. **Cooling Performance:** This fridge cools down *fast*—within 15 to 20 minutes, it's already well below refrigeration temps. It consistently maintains temperature even in hotter climates and inside a warm car, which is more than I can say living in AZ, especially during the brutal summer months. I set the average temperature at 25 degrees and have no problems keeping it at that level daily. I have set the temperature at -5 degrees on a few occasions, and it has had no issues at all. **Efficiency:** What really surprised me is how energy-efficient it is. It draws very little power, making it perfect for my overlanding setup and road trips. I've run it for days off a small power station without worry. When the Jeep is not on the go, I have it plugged into my Jackery 500, setting the fridge at 25 degrees and using it constantly for a 6-8 hour period. It only consumed about 40% of the battery life. **Build Quality:** The unit is solidly built and better than I expected. The handle could be made deeper and I can see someone with much larger fingers having difficulty with it when lifting the fridge. The digital controls are intuitive and easy to use, and the LED display is clear even in bright light. It doesn't feel cheap at all—despite being significantly more affordable than top-tier brands. **Noise Level:** Very quiet. You’ll barely hear it running, which is a big plus if you’re sleeping in your vehicle or nearby. **Portability:** At 23 quarts, it's the perfect size for solo travel or weekend getaways. It holds more than you think, and the compact design means it fits easily in the backseat or trunk. **Final Thoughts:** The BougeRV 23Qt car fridge has worked tremendously well for my needs. It’s rare to find a product at this price point that can genuinely outperform some of the more expensive competition. Whether you're new to car camping or just looking for a reliable backup, this fridge is a smart buy and I highly recommend it. **The only areas of improvement that I can see are a drain when cleaning/washing, like my ARB fridge, and deeper handles that allow a better grip.

This is a very good travel refrigerator/freezer. Drops the temp very fast and once down to my target temp of 38f I set it on eco and it keeps everything cold. Best travel unit I've ever owned and it's very affordable as well. I did purchase the insulated cover which does help to keep things cold when the car is turned off. Light weight with nice carry straps makes for the perfect unit.

Save $ buy now, you won't regret. Owned it for 1 month. We are living in the future. This is something I couldn't have dreamed of in a dk eyewitness book about the future in 2007. I feel like a pimp being able to keep an ice cold mini pantry in my service truck. I save so much money by not eating out, or buying ice. It's well made for $220, whisper quiet, and it cools so good I have icecicles in the box at 33 degrees. I would recommended plugging it into household power if you are gonna park your car for more than 8 hours even on eco mode. To refrigerate I would run the unit at 33 degrees on eco if outside temps are 60 fahrenheit and up. When you open the lid the temp rises and you can risk food bacteria growth. At 33 degrees it keeps a safety margin to ensure your food is safe to eat even if the cooler rises a few degrees. Indoors I would run it at 38. At 33 the temps dip to 28 when the compressor kicks off and the food and drink can get frozen. The run time depends on cabin temp and the reserve capacity/condition of your car's battery. I've set the cutoff voltage to medium and I haven't blown any fuses.

This unit has an excellent compressor that keeps your items COLD! Its controls are easy to use. It’s uses very little power, and is quiet when running. I got it on sale as a package with its own insulated cover, and it is the best value for money camping fridge I’ve seen! Get it before they’re gone!

FINAL UPDATE: 07/31/26 - Shortly after review, reached out to BougeRV and they offered replacement fan and instructions on how to replace. Issue: fan was minimum 20 days out as coming from oversees. Too late for me to fix for my next trip and pushing out toward 30 day return time. While appreciative for the effort, I said that solution would not work and another solution needed to be provided. BougeRV offered to send a new unit out and to just keep the old one. BougeRV sent the new unit to a friend's location in another state so it would be ready for me when I returned for the second half of my trip. When I flew out, the unit was ready and waiting. It performed flawlessly the entire time. I will add that sometimes a defective unit will come out of manufacturing. Unfortunately, I received the one defective unit during a time in which I needed to use it right away. I think this is a "one off" situation and would not expect most people to have any issues at all. I would buy another product from BougeRV again. It works well and the customer service, while via email, was very good and they were extremely responsive with all communications. FYI - if anyone has a similar issue and are out of warranty, the fan is a basic computer fan. As long as you stay within specs and are technical, you can procure one for cheap and replace yourself. With a brand new product, you should not have to do such. Changing review stars from 2 to 5 for an overall great product, but really for BougeRV stepping up in my unique situation and making sure my remaining travels were unhindered. ORIGINAL REVIEW: E2 code after 24 hours of running it. Test ran it for 24 hours after letting it sit for over 12 hours after shipping. All worked fine. Put drinks in it and ran it so they’d be ready to go for our road trip. Now I’m 400 miles from home and this thing is not working and indicates E2, which is faulty fan and says to replace fan module. Not confidence inspiring and now I have to figure out how to get a replacement in time for the remainder of my trip. What a pain to have to deal with this. I’ll update once I figure out how to get this handled and if it gets handled satisfactorily. Update: reached out to BougeRV. Support is conducted via email. They are offering to send new fan replacement. I am okay with that provided it fixes the issue and it can be sent out quickly. Traveling so if they can get it to me within next 12-13 days, then our travels will be unhindered. Added a star. Will update again based on timeline and final solution.

We are nearing a two trip and really like this portable refrigerator. You can set the temperature and it keeps the contents at the desired temperature. It is quiet and cools down quickly. It runs on 12v or 110v, a nice option we staying in a room over night. The cover is a nice option and we would purchase again.

Cooled down exceptionally fast and is running colder than expected. Registering about 5 degrees colder per the manual thermometer I placed inside vs the panel. It's a little loud, in my personal opinion but I'll have to see if this will bother me in the van. I'm super happy I got the cover because it's very nice. Perfect fit, nice carry handle and side pockets that are big enough to be useful! I do think the built in handles are a bit shallow making it feel like I can't get a good grip on it. It arrived in execellent condition. I'll update after a few trips with it but so far, so good...especially at this price point.

Love this product; I use it for camping and it stays cold - Have had no issues - In fact, this is my 2nd one - I put food in one and drinks in the other. Would recommend
