Is the dog able to wear the harness all the time or does it need to be put on before attempting to assist them with standing?

My dog was willing to wear it 24/7, however it tended to slip off. He lost the use of his rear legs, so the harness would come off as he moved around the house. However, putting it on was a prelude to walkies, so he was very cool about it. We told him he was putting on his pants (you can leave it partially set up, so that it is easy to quickly put on and take off. It looks like putting the legs into pant legs). He would get very excited when it was time to put on his pants. Truthfully, we got another year of useful and happy life from our boy because we could lift-assist him. I would then continue to support- ift him to take extended walks. NOTE: He was a lab. I was just the right height at 5'9" to lift him for walking, with a little leg support from Lego, but my husband who is 6'2" was a tad too tall to comfortably use the harness for walking. He had to walk stooped over to take the dog out. We also bought a canine wheel chair, but Lego hated it. He wanted that bonding time with a person up close, and that was okay with me. Lego had hip dysplasia.

does harness only fit legs or does it go on belly? Enlarged spleen can't have any pressure.

the harness goes around legs and there is a attachment that goes under the belly but it can be removed if you don't want to use it.

What size should I get for a 63 lb dog

They should have posted the sizing chart. The box recommends measuring the waist of the dog and using that as your guide. If the waist is between 19 & 31 inches get the medium. If the waist is 27 - 37 get the large. My dog weighs 70 Lbs but her waist is 25 inches so she needs the medium.

Will this work one a dog that only has 1 hind leg?

It should work. Cuz it can be adjusted. I took off the two straps that go around the back legs and just used the part that goes around the tummy area. I also took out the plastic part that is under the tummy cuz it is uncomfortable to have under there. My work well.
