incredible pattern at 50+ yards
nice choke. drew a picture of a Turkey head on some butcher paper. paced off 50 yards and shot standing. easily 20+ pellets in neck/head area and very even pattern. using 12 ga 3" #5 longbeard ammo. would easily feel comfortable out to 60 yards with this combo. may be tighter chokes out there, but not at this price point. no other choke can be THAT much better to justify their increased price. buy this choke and dont look back

Long Range!
Only got to shoot one gobbler this year! Smart bird wouldnt come inside of 50 yards! Absolutely smoked him with this and 3 inch shells!

Bought this to match the Ammo I shoot. 40/50 yard test.
I have used Long Beard XR #5 3 inch for several years. Recently bought an SBE3 and bought the matching Long Beard XR choke here on Amazon. Wanted to test my range. Here are 2 shots, one at 40 yards one at 50 yards on targets also bought on Amazon. 40 yards is total destruction. 50 yards is a kill shot but probably the outer limit of what I would do. I compared it to another choke using the same ammo. No comparision, this is a much tighter pattern. Highly recommend this choke and the ammo.

Grab some Long Beard XR and go hunt!
Just took it out and patterned the choke. It shoots very well and is the “easy” button for those that don’t have the time and money to test dozens of chokes and loads. I was initially worried that it was a more open constriction than what I had been shooting. Turns out it’s not an issue and it’s still throwing patterns I’d feel comfortable shooting out at 60 yds if I had to. Within 50 yds, it’d be comfortable shooting all day long. Trust the team at Carlson’s on this one.

Performs Well
This choke combined with the Long Beard XL shells works very well out of my Benelli SBE. Patterns are super tight out to about 40 yards. Past that I haven't seen the same results others have? This is ok since in my opinion you really shouldn't be trying to take a turkey with a shotgun farther than that anyway.

Patterns nicely. Tight pattern at close range, careful not to shoot over the bird and adjust point of aim based on range.
