Great Instrument
After reading several reviews about this six string bass, I was convinced enough to buy it. My background, I am new in the bass world and I was brave enough to jump onto a 6 string. My take on the instrument: It is well designed and sounds great out of the box. It is a beautiful instrument in my opinion at a fraction of big name brands. However, you might need to tweak it to suit your needs as I did. Tweaks: I replaced the sound jack since the one that comes with it honestly doesn't grip well and that affects the sound output. The preamp that comes with it works but I wanted to experiment with a single NFP filter preamp. With the NFP I kept the 3 way switch that came with it. I replaced the stock vol and tone pots with B500k and added a 0.2uF capacitor to the tone port. With the NFP preamp I was able to make the bass both passive and active. So my apologies to a reply I did in regards to the pickups that come with the bass. They are actually passive pickups. They are a little loud than name brands but with the NFP I was able to attenuate the pickup output to my liking. I also replaced the strings with Markbass Ultimate series with soft touch. They were $20 off so not bad and they are so soft on my fingers. They are round wound so versatile for different genres. I also insulated all the cavities with copper tape including the cover. I also sandwiched rubber between the bridge and the body to make it nice and quiet maintaining sound fidelity. My total including the bass was about $380. It sounds much better and cleaner it's hard to put it down once I have started playing it. I hope this is helpful and glad to demystify some conceptions about the bass. I love tinkering so who knows what else I will do to it.

Affordable and playable.
It's great for the money. I haven't opened the electronics- I know it'll be the cheapest stuff in there but I don't have a reason to. The pots aren't noisy and overall it sounds great. The first thing you noticed is that the neck is dry as a bone. The strings are dookie but who cares you are getting a good deal. I went and got strings right away. Just know that the 130 as B will not fit the bridge. Go smaller or make the hole bigger and clean the hole so you don't cut your strings. Intonation will need adjusted but I found it easy to get the top of the neck to match to lower frets. It's a nice player. I'd gig with it if the pots hold up. Proof that low cost isn't always an indication of playability

Surprising!
I am honestly dumfounded. I've had multiple basses over the years from many different companies and have had vastly ranging experiences with them but I must say I have been pleasantly surprised by this instrument. It has a better setup than most basses I've had out of the box. Been playing for 16 years and this might be the best value I've come across. The luthier job to get a bass to this level of fret board polish and work would probably cost as much as this instrument did. I purchased this originally as a project instrument to pull the frets out and upgrade from the ground up but to tell the truth, I'm probably going to purchase a second one just to have because I'm that pleased with it. If I could rate higher than 5 stars I would. 12 out of 10 value for money in comparison to other options. The fretwork is phenomenal, running your fingers along the board you barely notice they're there. The neck is thin enough to be fast but thick enough to be sturdy. It's not like some other neck profiles that end up being more of a U. The nut is a little oversized for the instrument, which is an easy fix but I'm honestly not sure what it's made of. I've had cheap plastic nuts on basses before but this almost looks and feels like a graphtech style of material. The balance of the bass is body heavy, so it doesn't neck dive although the hard tail bridge is very light and I'm probably going to upgrade it. The pots feel smooth, need a little bit of tightening, no big deal there. The pickups are rock solid. Tldr; worth more than twice as much as it costs. Fantastic feel, surprising value. Recommended purchase. Also for some reason, I was sent a Glarry. Not complaining at all, it was one of my choices for conversion but it was twice the price of this one. I'm not giving it back 😁 I noticed a question about the upgraded version and what makes it different from the cheaper one. The difference is the electronics, the upgraded has active electronics which means It has more signal going to an amplifier and also has extra knobs to add lows, mids and highs to the signal. The downside is it requires a 9volt battery that will die and need to be replaced periodically. The battery is required for most active instruments to work. Hopefully that answers that question!

Wow!
Incredible for the price! Solid build. Nice finish on the body and neck. Plays great out of the box. Don't let the price or country of origin fool you. This is a decent axe! I have 4 and 5 string Warwick Thumbs, Fender American Jazz, Washburn, Rickenbacker, Yamaha and Gibson basses that I have bought for thousands of dollars over the years and this little guy stands up to them all. It's not a work of art by any means, but for $70, it plays well, looks nice and has a more-that-decent sound. Buy this for your student or for a thrasher bass. You won't regret spending the coin. I am pleasantly surprised.

If you want to try a 6 string bass, get this!
Purchased this bass just to try playing a 6 string. It needs some setup work, maybe better strings, and shielding of the control cavity, but considering the price it’s worth a little work. Finish work on mine is very good with no obvious flaws. I’m quite happy with this purchase. Best way to try a 6 string for very little money.

Would have rated 2-1/2 stars if it were possible. The Ktaxon 6-string bass is almost equally very good, and seriously bad. The good: arrived in good condition, the guitar was surprisingly well set up with a straight neck, good action, and intonation perfect. It is fun to play, will probably be my go-to bass. My first experience with a bass with more than 4 strings, much easier with the left hand than I thought it would be (and I don’t have long fingers) but right hand still getting used to how close the strings are. The bad: inexpensive guitars come with cheap throw ins. In this case strap, bag, and strings. But much more serious, the electronics are terrible. Horrible buzz that only partially reduced when I touched the strings, and a very low output. Opened it up, and there was no shielding. Put in copper foil (something I have done before with success) and put everything back in place. Dead. Nothing. I tried replacing the potentiometers, and rewiring as per a diagram from a major pickup manufacturer. Nothing. Of course all of this voided any option for return. So be it. I bought an expensive pickup kit from EMG that doesn’t require soldering. Waiting for arrival. All in all still happy with the purchase. What was a super cheap $300 (w/tax) bass will be a still inexpensive $550 bass with top notch pickups and active electronics. But this will be my last price-too-good-to-be-true experiment. Maybe a kit next….😂

A really fab guitar, sounds great, plays great nice action, lovely tactile feel to the body and quite striking to look at. An added bonus is that the guitar is actually a fair bit lighter than my five string Ibanez (which makes gigging and going to jams a whole lot more pleasurable) Being on the cheaper side doesn't effect the quality in any way, you get a plectrum a soft case, strap and a rather excellent quality guitar lead included as well. I got a bit of worry when I plugged it in and couldn't get any sound untill I remembered it is an active guitar and needs a battery (PP3 easily inserted into the slot at the back... not supplied) As there are six strings the guitar is a bit neck heavy which is easily sorted by having a wider strap not made of nylon or similar slippy material. I would recommend getting one of these basses, great fun to play and look cool.

Pretty decent bass for the money. Tuned the bass,& noticed that I will have to do a proper setup. The strings that are on it feel cheap, but will do for now. All together, this product is satisfactory & a great deal.
