Jet Spray Battery Operated Motion Sensor Activated Cat and Fox Scarer & Repellent - Animal/Wildlife Repeller, Deters Garden Pests, Connects to Garden Hose (Single Pack)

Tried just about every other anti- cat device, liquid, gel or quack solution over the years, but this is the only one that actually works. I bought three of the ultrasonic scarers a year or so back, but eventually the cats seem to ignore them. They certainly laugh in the face of the gels and potions that eventually get washed away by the rain. I bought a similar water scarer from a different source a few months back, but we’re on a water meter and the leakage from the various joints was too bad to justify using it on a regular basis. This one is better, though I have had to tape a couple of joints to achieve a decent seal. Its certainly not advisable to use cheap hose and fittings to connect it to your supply. Mine went off during the early hours a couple of nights back, and given the absence since then of any further fouling, I'm optimistic that it was our regular feline visitor who activated it and that he’s got the message. However, I intend to leave it in place for now, fully charged but with the supply turned off, so that if the cat reappears he'll get a good stiff squirt and be reminded that his presence isn't welcome. I intend to experiment by buying an additional water butt, filling it to the top and connecting the scarer to that rather than the mains. With luck the displacement pressure from a full water butt will be enough to operate it successfully, and it'll save water too, especially given that I'm not entirely confident that the various joints will hold. If they do fail, as said above I'm on a water meter and it could cost me a fair bit in lost water if that happens during the night. Overall, pretty pleased so far.

So far, so good... In terms of solving my problem with the neighbourhood moggies using my small lawn as a toilet, which I assume to be an indication that the motion sensor is sensitive enough to detect a cat sized critter. That's all I care about. It works for me. One week and no cat poo! I'm happy! However there are some quality of control issues to be aware of. There are three ways you can adjust this sprinkler's settings: distance of spray, arc of spray, and sensitivity of motion sensor, and three out of three settings do not work... The distance setting knob makes no difference, the means of adjusting the arc does work properly, and the sensor seems set at one level of sensitivity and there's no means of turning it off! That's pretty poor! Luckily for me the spray distance is adequate for my tiny lawn, the arc of the spray is sufficient without using the rotating mechanism, and the sensitivity seems adequate. I can simply turn it off at the tap and turn the sensor to one side to effectively turn the thing off. Anyway, luckily for me, despite these faults, it does the job. Now, let's see how long it lasts! Update: a new design fault has manifested itself... The sun and shadows seem to trigger it off... So if you have any overhead foliage casting any kind of shadows falling over the sensor... It goes off! I think the morning sun shining into it does the same too... FFS! Also seals aren't great either.... I shall persist with it as it still works as intended : keeps the filthy cats off!

So far it’s keeping the neighbours cats away however in strong winds or rain, the sensor does activate randomly even though I’ve tried all sorts of different settings. It’s easy to set up and hopefully when the warmer weather comes, the sensor will only activate if an animal crosses it path. All in all a better solution that some of the sprays out there.

I received this item a few weeks ago on 7 September. Initially it was very effective and seemed to deter the foxes and other people's cats from fouling my garden. It stopped working a couple of days ago. It came with a sheet proclaiming '12 months guarantee' but my deadline for returning it to Amazon a few days previously and as this sheet also advised contacting the Supplier (BVG Group) before returning, I did just that. BVG then advised me that as I had purchased it from Amazon, I should contact them. This was not easy as none of the drop-down menus were relevant to my problem. Eventually, in desperation, I pretended I had a complaint about a Kindle download and the assistant managed to transfer me to a retail assistant who has arranged a refund. Questions for Amazon - why do you make it so difficult to return faulty goods by applying a return-by date that does not coincide with the actual guarantee? Perhaps you should look at The Consumer Rights Act 2015. In my opinion, this item is not fit for purpose.

Arrived on time. Worked from the very night it was set up and I’ve had it a month now. Only one random incident of cat poo, so 29/30 nights isn’t bad considering the neighbour’s cat was doing its business every night in the garden before I got this. Original batteries still going strong, even though the odd car/pedestrian has been setting it off during the night also! Covers a reasonable spray angle, have to give this 5/5.

arrived in time and looked impressive for the cost - added battery's (not supplied) and turned on - equipment is sensitive and reacts well to the passing of people and animals but! however unit leaks a lot when activated- took some time to seal most of the leaks when operating but it's not clean in it's delivery of the water and the unit is constantly covered in water - that's when i had a look at the sheet which arrived with it which states that it should not get wet?? if so than why is this sold as an outside unit..? little more thought needs to be made on this one guys. that being said i ain't seen my Heron for a while so it must be working (or it's died from fright)

I so wanted this to work, but sadly it doesn’t. Our cat goes to the toilet in the flowerbed directly in front of the summerhouse which stinks, so to discourage it I bought this. I have actually had 3, but can’t get any to work consistently. The first one was fantastic at first, sprays a wide angle to cover a big area stopped the problem immediately. It did go off with wind or plant movement, but not too excessively. The first thing to mention is that as this was trained on the flowerbed, the cat started pooing on the lawn! But I suppose at least you can see it to pick it up, you could maybe move the sprayer to cover the lawn (but would the cat just move back to the flowerbed?) Then after a couple of weeks it started to leak, not from a connection you can tighten, but from the connection to the main body of the sensor which you can’t adjust. It wasn’t horrendous, just constant dripping but not what you want when these are switched on permanently. The second one simply didn’t work, put brand new batteries in - nothing! The third leaked straight out of the box in the same place as the first. At this point I gave up!

A bit fiddly to set up and the unit itself is quite top heavy and therefore difficult to secure the spike solidly, so that it doesn’t move. I used quality batteries that are lasting ages (6 weeks so far). However the key point is - IT WORKS! Within a w Few weeks it was clear that it had become an effective deterrent and my cats now don’t go anywhere near it. Much better than the sonic versions of these types of repellent, which didn’t work, and because you can’t hear them it is impossible to tell whether it is emitting a sound or not. If it did, my cats ignored it. This model shoots and scatters a water spray and the noise alone now makes my cats keep away from it. It works!
