It would also be quite easy to use screws or nails on the inside returns if you wanted to make certain that it would not come loose. I have had no problems with this item. **Q: Can the panels be painted? Is the finish glossy or matte?** A: Matte, you could paint them but i wouldn't recommend it, it will crack **Q: is this panel water proof** A: It is made of plastic, which is waterproof but it is not a fully sealed unit and, as it needs to be fixed in, there is always the possibility that water may get in/out around the fixing points. It really depends on whether you use it inside or out the home and for what you want it for. I have used it indoors in an en-suite as an access panel for plumbing where water does not get onto it.
