This is where we learn that "with great powers must also come with great responsibility". This graphic novel contains Amazing Fantasy 15 and The Amazing Spider-Man 1-10. We get to see the origin stories for Spiderman's greatest foes, like Electro, Doctor Octopus, The Vulture, The Lizard and Sandman, all goes that have been featured in various Spider-Man movies. Doctor Octopus and Sandman are the only origin stories that are the same as in the screen. We get multiple cameos of the Fantastic Four, with Spiderman trying to join them. Spiderman battles Dr. Doom and throw away villains the Enforcers and the Living Brain. We get glimpses of Peter Parker's love life, home life, and work life. The Amazing Spider-Man comics reminded me of Archie comics with action. Peter's love life is funny and his handling of bully Flash Thompson, who just happens to me Spiderman's biggest fan. The Plot: We meet Peter Parker as a nerdy teenager who has a love of science and no muscles. Gets bitten by a radioactive spider, which gives him special powers, with abilities of a spider. He tried to cash in and ends up fighting for money. He is no crime fighter and watches as a burglar escapes, saying that is not his problem. The burglar who he let go ends up killing his Uncle Ben, and he vows to do good, and becomes Spiderman. He makes New York safe from burglars and costumed foes. What I Liked: The bully relationship with Flash Thompson and Peter Parker, it is one of the best things in these issues. I love how, it's a competition between the two for Liz Allen, but when Peter trying to lure out the head of the crime syndicate, Flash tries to hush him for Peter's protection. I love J. Jonah Jamison's reason for hating Spiderman, because he's envious. I liked the love life and all the ups and downs. I liked how serialized the early issues were the bad guys were bashing the month, but the relationships keep forming and getting stronger. My favorite villain was Doctor Octopus and I loved his origin story, not a bad guy but the arms fixed to his body making him insane. What I Disliked: Every time Peter Parker wears glasses, the way it was drawn looks so awkward. They have a bonus story where Spiderman invites himself to a Torch of the Fantastic Four's girlfriends house and he acts like a complete jerk, and kind of deserves the beating the Fantastic Four give him. Recommendations: I think everybody should read about how Spiderman was created. I got this graphic novel for the insane price of 99 cents on kindle thanks to a Christmas deal, I was well worth it. I have always been a fan and have wanted to read some of his landmark moments. I rated Marvel Masterworks: The Amazing Spider-Man volume 1 by Stan "the man" Lee 5 out of 5 stars. I will be reading a lot more Marvel Masterworks I bought a lot when desertcart had the sale. Review: Debut of Spider-man! - I could not get a physical copy of these issues so I was happy to find these! In Volume 1, there is Amazing Fantasy No. 15 and the first ten issues of The Amazing Spider-man comic all drawn by Steve Ditko back in 1963. It was great to read about the debut of Spider-man and his various villains in their own debut (ex. The Vulture, Doc Ock, Chameleon, Sandman, The Lizard, and Electro). It was a surprise to me that Spidey fought Dr. Doom and the Human Torch! I did not know that! Also loved the pin up pages and the look back at who's who working at Marvel at the time. Then to watch how Peter tries to juggle high school, working at the Daily Bugle, helping his Aunt May, and being Spider-Man. Must read for any Spidey fan!

Truly the Marvel Age of Comics 👏👏👏
Spectacular. First time I read the first issues of Spider-Man, so new that in one issue he is called Peter Palmer, in others his alias seemed to be written as Spiderman, but the constant is that each individual issue is made to amaze you with a new challenge to Spider-Man and Peter Parker, and that makes him great, it seems these days to get something similar you have to go for manga. The creative team of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko is glorious. Each issue of them is a full and complete adventure so fast and dynamic that in comparison a modern Marvel comic seems slow, as they would extend a new adventure to at least six issues to have a trade paperback. So in this volume you have aliens, other Marvel heroes, scientists, monsters, Jameson, strong creatures, intelligent robots, a doomsday weapon (courtesy of Dr. Connor), and so many opponents. New York is magical, a time in which it is plausible to think a teen in high school could get in contact with the technological achievements of the master minds in such an important city. But enough of words, better read Stan Lee words in his preface, a very charismatic master indeed : )

Good for old school fans and children
The best thing about this Marvel Masterworks is that it collects Spiderman from the very beginning so you start fresh with issue 1 and are introduced to many of his classic villains such as Doctor Octopus. That alone makes it worth buying, Especially to those who are curious about the Spiderman character and want to start fresh as well as the old school fans. That being said, The one thing I do care for is that the comics are very straight forward plot wise. No real depth to them and are incredibly predictable. It also doesn't help that there are no two-part comics or a series of comics centered around a single villain, It's all just a one shot comic with a different villain each time. The dialogue also comes off as very kiddish and would easily appeal to younger readers far more than adults. Still, for 4 dollars (at least that's the price it was when I bought and the price it is as I post this review), It's too good to pass up and I would definitely recommend buying.

Alright, let’s do this one last time!
I liked the fact that this included the first 10 issues of the Amazing Spider-Man, even his first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15 (1962). There’s also extra content like alternate comic covers, comic pages before they’re inked and colored, and I especially like how the pages look clean and crisp (like how they seem untouched even though they were written decades ago). Would I recommend buying this? Absolutely! And I’ll definitely be purchasing the next volumes of the Amazing Spider-Man!

Great Amazing Spider-Man comic book reprints. Back when comic books were great! We miss you Stan Lee and company.

The beginning of a icon!
Honestly reading old comics featuring such well known characters is always fun. I love seeing a Spider-Man before Mary Jane, where JJJ thinks he and Electro was same person or characters like the enforcers who I don't think appear that often in more modern comics (I don't think I had heard of them prior to reading this at least) The writing style may be harder to get into compared to modern comics, but to me that's part of the charm.

Solving crimes and meeting villains while being a bookworm teenager and living only with his Aunt May. I personally think it is a great book and I rate it full. Make sure you rate it 5 stars!

Perfect gift and alternative to buying the vastly expensive original. My husband loved reading the comic that is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars plus all the other volumes that are included in this book!

I always wondered what old Spider-Man stories were like and then I found them available in kindle app, nice! I enjoyed the fast pacing of the stories, and whoa, Spidey is such a funny guy 😅 The last story here, The Enforcers, were the best for sure! Which surprised me because I've never heard of them before. Got hooked for next volumes.
