An acquired taste
I eat things. I experiment. I've wanted to try these for about a year, but couldn't muster the courage to buy a bag. I like black licorice, I like red licorice. Never tried the sam stuff. This is not for me. I tried one and instantly thought of swedish bitters for when you're under the weather. Tried another to make sure I wasn't imagining that. Nope. Tastes like those bitters. Bitters aren't bitter. They're essences of string natural plants. I looked up this sam stuff and Internet says it used to be used as a cough syrup. Explains all this strange in my mouth. I ate two more trying to override my brain from thinking medicine. Focus on the salt and black licorice. Can't. Tried. I'll likely eat a few here and there until I either can't do it anymore or they get hard and dry. I really wanted to like them. Just an acquired taste. I love vegemite, eat it like peanut butter. It's not the salt, it's the insides. The sam stuff. Maybe if I get a sore throat this winter if they're still pliable I'll eat some and see if I can use these instead of cepacol cough drops...

Good Stuff
I love good licorice. I like just about any licorice that is fresh and soft. But most of the stuff I find in the grocery store may be fresh and soft, but it is just wheat and sugar. Not good for me. I have tried a lot of different kinds of Licorice on line. Almost everything I have bought on line, would have been very good if it wasn't old stale and hard. This was the first licorice I have purchased on line that had good ingredients. It had real licorice in it and I don't think it had wheat. It was fresh and soft. I really liked the taste of this. It is a salted licorice, which I like. It had an unusual flavor besides the salt, that I really liked. It was very different than any licorice I have had. For now, it is my favorite licorice in the world. It is hard to compare because it is so different. But I love it and I will get more. It will be my new bad habit.

It's made a Salmiak fan outta me!
I've been wanting to try salmiak candy, but wanted to try a "good" one. I LIKE IT! Just the right soft, chewiness I was hoping for, and a pleasant mix of liquorice, an almost smoky caramel note, and of course, the saltiness. Being salmiak, there is also that pungency, but I personally don't find it heavy nor off-putting. Then again I like savory and earthy flavors so there's admittedly some bias. I'm gonna need a bigger bag!

Way to potent. Not an enjoyable taste.
I was expecting licorice with a twist but it's way too much of a twist to enjoy. This candy is way too potent. Unfortunately it cost a lot of money. Waste of money.

Too salty for me so I rinse the salt coating off but really not to my taste.

These are SO good! Very fresh and tasty. There was actually a fair amount in the bag. They were pricey but so worth it.

Heksehyl (literally "witches screams") has been one of my favourite salted liquorice sweets since I was a kid, and this has rekindled my addiction (I've just placed my 4th or 5th order in the course of a few weeks). For someone used to sweet liquorice, this is one of the gentler introductions you can get to salted liquorice. It consists of a thin tube of very mild liquorice dusted with sugar, filled with a firm brown filling that is a mix of very soft liquorice and ammonium chloride - like salt, but with more of a kick (and the perceptive may recognise it as an industrial cleaning agent - it's true, but it's also an essential ingredient in a lot of Nordic and Dutch liquorice sweets) Heksehyl is very distinct and if you enjoy it, chances are you'll go through the whole bag way too fast. As a bonus, if you have weak teeth, these are soft enough for just about anyone.

A bit pricey but love these. Wish I could get them more often.
