IRIS 457887 Executive 7 IRISPen USB Pen-Scanner

I bought this to use on titles but it does not work for that. It must be block letters, it works but the product could be better. I'm not sure its a problem with this product but more the technology hasn't been invented to make this work flawlessly yet.

I'm computer proficent but this company allowed a product to be sent out that did not include the software on cd/dvd and according to mulitple reviews they know that the USB is not enough to power this without the additional software. No problem I went to the link on their technical support and downloaded it myself. Stil not enough power. Everything appears to be installed but still doesn't work, the pen lights up but no scanning. Its the light to nowhere. They also did not include the calibration sheet, I also went to their site to download the pen calibration sheet. Nope still nothing. I have two laptops one with windows 7 and one with windows 8. It doesn't work on either one. The company just circles around the issue. Tech support is not support if I have to do everything myself. Also you will see under the driver properties that it installs as Pro Scan 1. According ot many techy sites we need Proscan 1.3. There is no link to update this driver on IRIS support. I have hunted in multiple areas of their site and others for a phone number. Still nothing, submitted a ticket, still no contact other than the same aforementioned links that do not resolve. I spent all weekend being my own tech support for IRIS.. Now it's the weekday, still

I love this product. It makes reading school materials much easier and works on many different media.

This may be the best electronic device I ever purchased. When I read a book, I highlight meaningful passages. The problem? I can never recall which book I read that gave me an idea. And, I never know what part of the book I read. With this pen, I scan all my highlights right into Google Docs. The highlighted parts of the books I read recently are all in one Google Docs document complete with a table of contents and page number reference. Scanning the highlights is very quick, versus typing them all in. This is very helpful due to the number of words I can read per minute. I read a lot! This pen helps me keep all the ideas stay organized. The ONLY downside is that you have to be connected to a PC/Laptop to scan. That's not a huge downside for me.

I've just started using this but so far it works well enough. There are some problems with word recognition but nothing to difficult to fix. I got this to use scanning books to enter into my Kindle so I'll update when I've completed the job

Works great and saves a lot of time!

DON'T BUY IT!! This was my second try and failure with this company. First shot was the IRISPen 6 - software would not install properly on either the new ASUS or ACER computers-not compatible with Windows 10. Now this Executive 7 is a bigger headache. Amazon put its warehouse sticker over the software activation code. No code-no operations. Period. and company notes on its website that "users are responsible for protecting their activation codes. If you dig really hard, and swear your not a robot, you will find a phone number on their site. I'll save you the time 561-921-0847. You can listen to their robot telling you to submit questions through their site and people are waiting to help you. Not true. Five hours after "starting a conversation" on site, (this is not a user friendly or intuitive interface) still no response. Zip on customer service. And I'm outside the return Window unless Amazon takes pity on me. Even if I somehow get an activation code, my aggravation level with this firm, a Canon company, is just over the moon. I need a new printer and it will not be Canon. I want nothing to do with them or their spawn ever again.

I'm really disappointed in the IrisPen 7. I had an earlier model and was quite happy with it. It didn't scan perfectly, but close enough that it didn't take long to make needed corrections. I've had the 7 now for a couple of months and I finally have realized that the problem isn't me, but the scanner. I'm constantly getting messages that I scanned too slowly or too fast, or not fluidly enough, and so they either didn't scan at all or scanned very badly. Also, it is hard to align the pen with lines on a page, so I often find that I've skipped a line within a paragraph. And when lines do scan, they're much garbled. I find myself just typing the lines I want to quote rather than taking the time to use the IrisPen. Ironic that the way I now save time is by typing rather than scanning. I doubt I'll ever risk one of their products again.

The Canon iRis Pen does not pick up all the words/letters/symbols which it is intended to do. Therefore, Amazon should take up this issue with Canon.
