Sleep with Buteyko: Stop Snoring, Sleep Apnoea and Insomnia, Suitable for Children and Adults (Book & CD) [McKeown, Patrick G.] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Sleep with Buteyko: Stop Snoring, Sleep Apnoea and Insomnia, Suitable for Children and Adults (Book & CD) Review: Great intro to Buteyko - This book does a great job of introducing Dr. Buteyko's theory of overbreathing, discussing how overbreathing affects health in general and sleep in particular. Easy to read, with the occasional technical supplement. The CD is useful for learning some exercises in the Buteyko method - one can concentrate on doing the exercise instead of having to do it while simultaneously remembering what the exercise should be. I don't know enough physiology to comment on the scientific claims in the book, and I haven't done the program long enough to confirm/deny an improvement in general health. But I can say that when I visited my relatives recently and they couldn't hear me snore, they thought the paper tape suggestion on page 47 was by itself worth many times the price of the book/CD. Review: Easy guide to better sleep - The practices in this short and simple guide to improving sleep have proven effective for me and my wife (who has asthma). I was often congested at night and would snore and waken frequently through the night with a dry mouth. After following the practices for a few weeks, I am now able to sleep soundly through the night with my mouth closed, without snoring, and wake up easily with no alarm. The practices are so simple, I find myself breathing more easily through my nose during the day, even during exercise and hikes up hills, where I previously would be gasping for air. What a difference! I would recommend this book to anyone of any age, regardless of whether they are struggling with snoring or sleep apnea.

Sleep breathing
Best tip is to use small strip of micropore tape to hold lips shut so you won't mouth breath at night. Great tip, helped me with night-time dry mouth.

This really works
I went from a "night owl" who hated mornings to reading books in the morning and being the first to the office by taping my mouth shut at night. I am now able to get better sleep in less time, giving me more energy and more time in my day. The first night, I taped my mouth and crossed my fingers. The next morning I naturally woke up earlier than my earliest alarm and had energy which was such a welcome change from waking up to my last alarm and not wanting to get out of bed. I am giving this book to friends and family members.

Not waking up at night ....
This book may change your life. It isn't a sole approach to all sleep problems, but it is a great guide to achieve Buteyko benefits. After nine months of practicing this method I am routinely sleeping better and am more relaxed during the day. Love this!

Great information and well documented
I was able to clear both nostrils using breathing exercises outlined in book. Applying the knowledge contained within book is life changing.

It was a good read. The main thing I put to practice ...
I bought 3 of the books by Patrick G. Mc Keown. It was a good read. The main thing I put to practice after reading all three books was the importance to not sleeping with my mouth closed. I always had a dry mouth and now I do not it was amazing how that fixed my dry mouth.

What this book does is put to bed the cult of "over-breathing". If you only snore when your mouth is open then this is a life changer. Explains very simply how to modify breathing throughout the day and when you go to bed so that you only breathe through your nose. I'm feeling more refreshed and if wake in the night, now know better how to fall back to sleep.

This book is very readable, but is low on information. There is nothing new in here, that isn't already common sense. The exercises are already in a previous book.

Interesting suggested solution of becoming a nose breather, but resetting the brain centre to do this while unconscious is not happening as described.
