Reliable Budget Field Monitor That Still Performs Well
I purchased the Neewer F100 7-inch field monitor in 2020 and it’s still working well today. It fits nicely on my camera rig and is very easy to use. The 1280x800 IPS screen is bright enough for most indoor and shaded outdoor shoots, and the matte finish helps reduce glare. Colors look decent and the viewing angles are good, which makes it useful for framing and checking focus while filming. The focus peaking and check field features are very helpful for video work, especially when pulling focus manually. It’s not a true 4K display, but for monitoring purposes the image is sharp and accurate enough. The monitor is not touch screen, but it’s very lightweight and the shoe mount works perfectly. It’s also very compatible with different camera setups. Pros: • Still working well after years of use • Very lightweight and easy to mount • IPS screen with good viewing angles • Focus peaking and field check are very useful • Good image quality for monitoring Cons: • Not bright enough for direct sunlight • Battery not included • Resolution is fine for monitoring, not for critical color grading • Not a touchscreen Conclusion: The Neewer F100 is a solid budget field monitor for video work. It’s reliable, lightweight, and offers useful tools like focus peaking at a great price. If you need a dependable on-camera monitor and don’t expect ultra-bright outdoor performance, this is a great value.

Great value monitor for 4K value action cams
I purchased an Akaso V50 Elite and Brave 6 action cam. Both are capable of recording 4K video and have mini HDMI output connectors. The V50 elite can record up to 4K@60FPS and the Brave 6 up to 4K@24FPS. My main intent for these action cams are to create some Youtube videos. However, what I learned soon after purchasing the cams was that it was difficult making sure the video I was recording was in frame when the back of the screen of the cam was facing the other way and an external video monitor should help me solve that problem. What I was really unsure about when purchasing this monitor was would it be able to display the video when the action cams were in 4K record operation modes. I was pleased to learn that this monitor was capable. I also wasn't quite sure even if the action cams were in 4K mode, the resolution which it would be putting out from the HDMI output. What I discovered with the Akaso V50 elite is that when it was set to 4K@60FPS resolution and recording, it would output 720p@60Hz but when not recording it would output 4K (3840x2160@30Hz). This video monitor was able to switch seamlessly with the different outputs being fed from the Akaso action cams. The video display quality seems good to me but that wasn't as important to me for my uses. I just wanted to make sure I was able to monitor what the cam was seeing regardless of the resolution mode I was recording at from the action cam, and it definitely is able to do that. The pictures I included displays what the action cam is feeding it when the cam isn't recording and when it is recording. Another thing that is confusing is with the type of batteries that you can connect to this display. It says it supports 'Sony NP-F550" which is true but I would recommend to not purchase that series of batteries but instead purchase Sony NP-F750/NP-F770 series batteries instead. The reason is that NP-F550 batteries are 2600mAH and may last 1-2 hours max on a single charge. The NP-F750 batteries are 5200mAH and will last twice as long on a single charge while at the same time are about the same price as the NP-F550 size batteries. The NP-F750 batteries are about double the size as the NP-F550 batteries since they are double the life but I don't feel they're too big to attach to this monitor. The only problem I have had with this monitor is with the HDMI connection in a couple of instances. It comes with a bracket which will hold the HDMI cable more secure which I have not tried. I had some difficulties where I found myself jiggling the cable and the monitor was not displaying the video due to the micro to full size HDMI cable connected between the cam and the monitor. However, I am unsure at this time if that problem was due to the camera side connection, the monitor side connection or the cable itself. I will update my review once I've had more time to use this setup and am able to determine if the monitor HDMI connection is the problem or not. Also speaking to the HDMI cable it comes with a Mini to HDMI cable, where I wish it came with a Micro to HDMI cable instead.

Great value
I have been using this for about 2 weeks to cover sports. I shoot video and photos and have to say that this monitor is great. It's easy to see, battery lasts a long time, and does everything you want it to do. The hotshoe connection sucks and allows the monitor to spin around. I found that you will need to replace it. There is a lag from turning on my camera to the display on the monitor, though I'm not sure if that is due to my cameras or the monitor.

Using it in the field
I've been using this for over a year now and am very happy with it. I mount it to the top of my DSLR via the hotshoe and use that setup on a tripod for video, very stable and using HDMI connection. The sun shade is a very USEFUL addition that other units don't have. Mostly I use the 7" monitor via the AV 'in' port for my 2 'snake' cameras that have built-in small screens (2.4, 3.5"). I'm filming tiny soil critters and crawling around on the ground and for that purpose this monitor works great - nicer than the little screens and can be positioned where I need it away from the devices, although the battery is heavy and throws off the center of gravity when using a short small tripod. After a lot of trial and error I ended up getting a Zeadio video 'stabilizing' handle and an 11" Neewer dual flash bar, mounting the monitor on one end of the bar and my devices on the other. Very easy to move from place to place as a single unit. (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LKK99QA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). The only problem I've had was that one of the batteries I got with the recommended 2-battery charger punked out after ~14 months. Those are not cheap.

Nice monitor and great price
Should have bought a monitor before. This monitor works great and will not break the bank. I'm not a pro but this is a game changer as I do quota bit if videos by myself and this allows me to make sure I'm getting the shot I want. The image quality is better than expected and runtime on the battery has been excellent, just make sure when you are not using the monitor to remove the battery. The unit will continue to drain the battery even when powered off, but from my research there are other that do the same. The unit I bought did not come with batteries, so I had to purchase them but they do offer a monitor with batteries option. I would like to purchase more of these as I can afford.

Very Impressive Budget IPS Field Monitor.... Update 5 months Later Fail
The unboxing experience was very good indeed and have to say that it's by far the best I've seen for such a budget monitor. For budget filmmakers out here, I don't see the difference between the NW-759 and the F100 other than the features it comes with on the settings on the IPS monitor. They both look the same but you can tell that some of the features do look different, I've done a real-world test on the monitor to see how it can hold up and you need to watch my video to see why I rate it so far a 4 out of 5. Please watch the video to understand what you might get yourself into when making the purchase or before the purchase. There are some Pro and some cons but it's a budget field monitor UPDATE: After 5 months it kick the bucket but Neewer is sending me a replacement right now as of Sept 11th 2018and should have been here by now. Now I know that the display is not very strong or the components inside the build of the monitor may not be built as pro monitor is. I had the monitor in a pelican case with form and not sure how it happens. It will turn on but the display screen will not work and do something colorful displaying and go black. It turns in a lava lamp and gets pretty cool UPDATE Sept 14th, 2018, Neewer warranty and customer support fail to read my emails when they ask for an address for the replacement to be mail to and mail it to California when I am in NYC. Then issue me a refund without asking me first knowing that I needed the monitor more than the refund. I will now take one star away from the review due to lack of communication from Neewer and didn't send me a tracking number until the day after it was delivered. Now, this keeps me from buying from businesses like this and stick to the big boi monitors with better customer service. Since the Aug 24th and Sept 14th

Get Ready For Sub-Menu Hell & Screaming Feedback
I am normally a big fan of Neewer products. I've tried their lenses, their sliders, and I have four of their lights plus a tripod from them. But this monitor was an absolute nightmare on my Sony camera. Four problems: - Only a small fraction of the monitor actually displayed video. It was heavily cropped, and displayed only a small box of live video in the center of the screen. What is the point of having a relatively large display like this if the only usable area isn't much larger than the back screen of the camera? There may have been a way to set it up for a larger picture, but I didn't have time to mess around (see below). - The ball mount that mounts into the hot-shoe is overly tall, flimsy, and insecure. Too many things to screw down, lock down, and tighten. And with a slight bump or touch, it all loosens up and things start to tilt or flip. A total waste of time. This monitor ought to bolt straight into a hot-shoe and face one of two directions (forwards or backwards). I'm sure that there are people who need the monitor to be able to adjust to strange angles, but let them buy or use an aftermarket mount. The mount that comes with this monitor ought to be solid as a rock, quick to set up, and not require you to futz around in the field for 10 minutes simply getting it bolted on the camera. - This was the biggest frustration: The monitor is designed to use annoying sub-menus accessible through front panel buttons much like on a t.v. (left, right, up, down, and menu). It's tedious and annoying. When I tried to use this monitor, I was subjected to extremely loud, screaming, ear-piercing feedback for ten minutes from an audio loop created by the camera's mic and the monitor's speaker as I tried in vain to turn off audio monitoring or playback. Would makes sense to maybe have a simply volume knob or wheel on the side of the monitor to lower or raise volume, right? Right!? No way, says Neewer. I scrolled though every sub-menu I could access while listening to all that racket and had no luck finding a way to either turn the volume down, mute it, or shut off audio monitoring. Now, there may have been some way to do it on my camera itself, or maybe in some sub-menu, but I simply didn't have time to screw around with it. I want my gear to WORK immediately and without problems. When you are out in the field, the last thing you want to do is scroll through sub-menus to do a basic task. Bottom Line: This monitor is useless without headphones because once the headphones are unplugged, you'll get non-stop, ear-piercing, screaming feedback from the camera's monitor being played through the Neewer's monitor speaker. This is going back to Neewer.

So far so good
So far very happy with this product. Was looking for something to make it easier for me on my shoots to see better details than my LCD screen on my camera. Fits the hotshoe of my sony a7iii wonderfully and seemed like it has a sturdy hold once tightened though having something just in case couldn't hurt. Picture looks pretty good and from the little bit of testing I was able to do it def helps me see better details in my photos. The screen protector came kind of peeling off on the corner but not a deal breaker as it didn't effect the screen at all. It came in great condition and there is nothing wrong with how it functions so far. Can not wait to take it out on my shoots and really put it to the test. It did come in early however I was waiting on the batteries i ordered for it to come in. Very happy with my purchase so far and I can not wait to really put it to the test

Cheap & Must have item for Every budding filmmaker.
It is well built. Display is amazing. Ofcourse there lot of chance to improove it but at this price range. It is the best. Its 7inch extra screen to view your shots. But not just that it has lots of other features like SAFE MARGINE :-which my canon 1500d doesnt have. FOCUS ASSIST FAKE COLOURS CENTER MARKER ETC IMPORTANT NOTE:- make sure you buy batteries n charger for this. You have to buy it seperately as they do not provide it.

Excelente Monitor
