IRIS USA Large Front Door Cat Litter Box, Walk-in Entry, Navy

I have bought many litter boxes and this one does it all. I've used this for rabbits for a year but can see how most of the same things apply to cats. I love how deep the box is, keeps Everything inside. The translucent top allows me to see that my pet is inside while also closing them in making them comfortable to eat hay and do their thing. (some rabbits won't use an uncovered, 'out in the open' box but they both love this thing which means they actually use it instead of the rest of the house!) The top is quite flimsy but honestly, does it matter? Yes, the top does not connect but how would you clean the box if you couldn't take the top off? You can easily get it to stay in place with binder clips, stick on velcro, or even just wedging it between two items. The door and rack to step on keep Everything inside and perfectly catch any stuck poop and drop it through the holes before the bunny leaves. I use the rack as a shelf to put their hay under. The door pops off if you want more air so litter(rabbit kind) does not mold. However the door and having it fully enclosed really does keep oder inside. It really only fits one 4-8 lb bun at a time. If you had two very small rabbits that would work. If there were a much larger option I would buy it and use it for both rabbits.

The top doesnt clip on which is slightly disappointing and weird, but I expected this, as the other reviews said this.. Honestly, though, that was a super easy fix. I got a $1 package of sticky velco ovals from walmart (the white dots in the photo) and it stays on just fine now, but I can still open the top when I need to. The door isnt on hinges so it swings a little weird. It caught my kittens tail once, she yelped. It didnt really hurt her just scared her, but she seemed a little weary of the box after that so I just removed the door and I havent had a problem since! It still stops the litter she flings all over when digging which was its purpose. The grate helps catch what goes toward the entry. Speaking of, I love the removable grate. My kitten scraps her paws on it as she gets out and its virtually stopped ALL litter tracking. I also love that there is a place to store the scoop as well! Really handy! I though it might be difficult to clean with the flip top but it isnt at all, its super simple. I havent had any problem with clumps sticking to the bottom or sides like another reviewer said. The box isnt huge. It is certainly big enough for my kitten and average adult cat to use separately, but if you have a larger cat you may want to double check the demensions, you know your cat best! Over all I am Extremely Pleased with my purchase.

I love this litterbox (as silly as it sounds). I’ve bought a few of them over the past 10 years as after a few years of kitty claws, they get progressively harder to completely clean, but I keep buying this one. The price is great, and the product is durable. Most of all, I LOVE the design. The tray/grate drastically reduces litter tracking, and the split hood is fabulous because I can detach it so that the box is covered but the cat doesn’t have to push through to get in and out. The bigger hole makes it feel more accessible for the cats, but leaves the box inaccessible to nosy dogs. The one design flaw (so minor it doesn’t detract from my five stars) is the little grooves/corners towards the front. There’s a part where the sides flare out briefly before the front of the box, and if a cat urinates in that corner with clumping litter, it can be a little difficult to dislodge. But, like I said, such a minor flaw.

We've only had this for a few days, but my first impressions are not thrilled with this product. We've owned cats for 20 years, plus our childhood pets, so this isn't our first litter box rodeo. I chose this one because of the flip-open lid and the fact that the top is translucent to allow light inside. I also liked the idea of the grate inside, hoping it would help reduce scatter. Now that I have it, a few things stuck out as I pulled it out of the box and set it up. First, the bottom of the pan has formed shapes in it, it's not smooth like most boxes. If you're not using a liner, this is going to present some degree of issue when scooping and cleaning the box. Clumping litter would be miserable. Second, the flip-top doesn't go very far back. The lid doesn't flip open far enough to clean the box effectively, especially with the grate in place. Third, the lid doesn't snap onto the pan in any way. So far, this hasn't been a problem for our current cat, but an aggressive digger could easily knock it off the pan, and it won't help as much for holding a liner in place. A fourth point that I never even thought to check on when I read the description was that there is no slot for a carbon filter. We haven't always had a filter in place on our boxes, but if that's something important to you, pass on this one. A final note, the size isn't particularly roomy. It's not small, just average. With a single, average-sized cat this shouldn't be much issue. A larger cat will have to be a rather dainty bathroom user to be comfortable in this, especially with the grate in place. I wouldn't pick it for multiple cats, or cats who like a more generous landscape. All that said, it's a litter box. It holds litter, the cat uses it, I /think/ the grate helps reduce scatter, the hood stops the cat from throwing litter out every dang side of the box. But there are better boxes.

I really considered keeping this split-hooded litter box because of its design, however I just couldn't accept how poor the quality was. I really wanted a hooded litter box for my cat, and I've owned a good one in the past, so I have some standards that I am use to when looking into a new hooded litter box. When I found this one online, I loved the idea that it was split-hooded, and that the litter scooper could be stored inside the litter box. When my order arrived, I was greatly disappointed by the quality. The whole hooded part was ridiculously flimsy. The swinging door constantly rests out of place and easily pops off the hinges. The hood is so light weight, I can see how cats (from other people's reviews) can easily displace the hood from the litter pan. The hood also doesn't have locks to actually secure itself onto the litter pan. So if you actually needed to pick up the whole litterbox by the handle (which is actually awkward to hold onto because it's fixed flat) you'd just be taking the hood with you, and not the whole thing. The plastic hood is also very thin and fragile, and my order arrive with cracks above the swinging door (pictures and video provided). People say this litter box is unusually small, but I think it's a great size for a trip with your cat. I can see how bigger cats can't work with this. I like how it's split-hooded, and I've yet to come across another litterbox that is split-hooded. I like how the hood is a frosty clear plastic so that you know your cat is in there without seeing too much of their business. I like how the litter gaurd tray has a slot for the litter scoop. I loved the idea of this litter box, but the quality was not acceptable to me. I do hope they come out with a more durable version of this design.

I don't currently have a picture of Drakos litter box. I purchased the large enclosed litter box because it gave my cat privacy and it had options you can easily lift up the front of it if your kitten or cat doesn't like using the door and the top comes right off so it's easy to clean. I clean my cellular box everyday and I change out the kitty litter about every week and a half, so I don't have to deal with unpleasant smells and neither does my cat. Even if you weren't to clean your kitty litter box that often or change the cat litter that often this litter box will aid in the prevention of unwanted smells. I also really like that it has the litter tracking deterrent bar, is has made a huge difference in the amount of kitty litter that is tracked. I have a designated carpet rug underneath the litter box so with that deterrent bar and that carpet the litter doesn't track from that area at all. This is the first time that I've ever purchased a litter box like this and I'm happy that I gave it a shot I will now always buy this type. My cat is now 5 months old and this litter box is a good size for him I will probably try to find a larger one and I would also suggest to have one litter box per cat, especially if you have an indoors only cat only like I do. The litter box is made out of a great material it's thick it's stable it's not flimsy whatsoever and I'm sure the type of kitty litter I use plays a part in this but there isn't stickiness or clumps at the bottom of the litter box, it's very easy to clean, and upkeep. - Skye

This is a nice sized box, and the sides are deep enough, at least for my kitties. I like the lid, although as noted in other reviewed, it's easily pushed out of place and would be better if it snapped on even a little more securely. I removed the front part of it, as my kittens are more comfortable climbing in that way, so it's about 75% covered which still helps contain some of the litter from getting tracked out. The biggest flaw - and it's a huge one - is that the bottom of the box is not smooth. The manufacturer's info says "our all-around molded-in rims add strength and stability." Well, my cats say "ooh, look, little grooves we can aim for so that it makes it awkward to scoop things!" I think it's pretty common for cats to aim up against the side of the box and it was an extremely poor design right from the start. I think any cat owner would have told them that if they had bothered to ask. I also find the scoop to be less that great as the holes are too large and small pieces that should be removed fall back into the box instead. I can't really recommend it but since it was relatively inexpensive, it's been an ok temporary box for my new kittens while waiting for the one I really wanted (Modkat Flip) to come back into stock.

This is a great, inexpensive litter box for a small cat! I recently rescued a "mini" cat as I call him, who weighs 8 lbs. I purchased this litter box hoping it was small and would discourage my two other larger cats from going inside (12 lbs and 15 lbs).. All three cats can "fit" in the box, but my two largest cats only checked it out once, and shortly realized it was too cramped for them to maneuver and squat correctly - after that they never went back (thank god). Its a really great box, the grate is a nice idea, but I took it out to make more space for the cat. The flip top is not secured onto the box and can pop off if a large cat try's to exit the box. I took off the swinging door as my cats hate doors. My only complaint is the bottom inside has grooves which can be annoying when scooping, but other than that, you can't go wrong for the price! I found the perfect mini litter box, for my mini cat!

Love this! I have a lot of cats and need a lot of boxes. I’ve built various options to minimize tracking and keep cats happy. This box is the most inexpensive thing I’ve found that solves all the issues, as long as your cat likes covered boxes which some don’t. What I like: the front can be folded back to allow a larger opening while teaching cats to use a covered box. There’s a grid so your cat can drop dust back into the litter box and not track it out. It comes with a scoop!! Great deal you basically don’t need to buy anything else but the litter. Only thing I’d change is the top doesn’t clip on, it just sits on top with a lip on either side of the wall. It’s pretty sturdy but I imagine cats could theoretically knock it off, though mine haven’t. You need to pick it up with two hands because it doesn’t clip on which isn’t a big deal.

My cat like to dig at wall and knocks the lid off easily so I had to tape it on. Other than that he uses it well enough and it's easy to clean. The little smell that gets past the litter stays in the litter box. The litter catcher and scoop holder in the front is super nice and keeps things cleaner and tidy.

We've been using Van Ness enclosed cat litter boxes without complaint for a few years with only one big exception: LITTER TRACKING. We tried different litter types/brands to address this issue but came back full circle to the original all-natural pine-based clumping litter. As the second step we decide to try a different litter box to reduce litter tracking. An IRIS Split Hood Cat Litter Box came highly recommended by Japanese cat owners, and its built-in paw-cleaning grid seemed like a good solution to our problem. Well, what a disappointment this litter box turned out to be! Unlike their Japanese counterparts, the US version lacks a locking device so the hood got knocked out of place every time our cat entered or exited the box! There is a handle at the top, but, since nothing is holding the hood and tray together, the hood comes right off leaving the tray behind! To move this litter box, let's say for vacuuming, you'll need to lift the whole thing with both hands! How stupid is that? [NOTE: Spring-loaded clips can fixed this problem, but it's a VERY annoying oversight especially because it could be easily fixed by a slight design change.] Also, the bottom of the tray has many "bumps" for no apparent reasons. This makes scooping awkward and frustrating. As for reducing litter tracking, the paw-cleaning grid has some effect but not nearly enough. I'd say the grid reduced scattered litter by 10 to 20% in our household. Our cat is smaller than the average (8 lb/3.6 kg), so she doesn't have trouble moving around in this litter box. However, my guess is that most cats in North America would find it too small because the grid cuts into the manoeuvrable space inside. I like the fact the hood is translucent and the front part of the hood flips up for scooping. I also like having the paw-cleaning grid. However, I DESPISE the lack of a locking mechanism to keep the hood and tray together. It seems ridiculous that the box comes apart every time a cat uses it or you try to lift it up. It's stupid not to have a flat tray bottom for scooping too. The bundled scooper can be neatly stored inside the box, but the scooper is for pellets and not suitable for our clumping pine litter, rending it useless. I really wish IRIS USA will employ the same litter box designs used in Japan while adjusting the box size to accommodate bigger cats here.

I bought this litter in September 2024 for around $25. There is no absolute reason why it's worth this much now. It's basic, hard to clean because of the grooves on the bottom and it's rather small, my cats hang half way out of it when using it. I wouldn't recommend it at the current price, that's outrageous.
