Good Quality portable pump I used it to lift a roof truss to make a repair and it didf the job.

After reading reviews mainly complaining about no fluid, not working, or no instructions. First I wanna say people make it sound difficult and probably not a person who works in a hands on field. Ordered 3 they all worked out of the box! Because of the reviews the first thing I checked was fluid. Simply unscrew the yellow tube from the top and found 1/2 tube full of oil. When you get it out of the box remove the plastic ends and hook up the hose to the ram. It does take up to 15 pumps before it starts to pick the first time and get full of fluid. Next these types of things are made to lift extremely heavy loads. They dont lift quickly. Probably 50 pumps for 2 inches. Which if you truly are picking something in the 30 to 40k pounds its something your gonna want control. For me we was jacking up a 60 foot tall tank so we needed control to make sure it didn't fall over due to the wind.

Works very well

Came dry no fluid in it. Works okay once I got the fluid in it, and got the air out, what a pain and $7 in fluid. Very slow very very little movement with every stroke. No directions.

I am using this hydraulic ram and pump to re press truss plates on a garage roof. I needed something the would work in the horizontal position and this worked just fine. I do wish there were instructions included showing how to add hydraulic fluid. Tip: The pump will work in the horizontal position as shown and it also in the vertical position if the hose is on the bottom. The ram works in any position and it has a built in return spring making it much easier to work with.

Pump doesn't work, had to change fitting on ram to make it compatible with portapower pump. Ram works fine.

The unit didn't work out of the box. It appears there is no hydraulic fluid. There are also no instructions on how to bleed the air and refill the cylinder with hydraulic oil. I spent over an hour bleeding some air and adding hydraulic fluid at both the pump and jack ends, but it still didn't work. A simple page of instructions would have gone a long way and saved a lot of wasted time.

I needed a small port-a-power with a short ram, this worked perfectly for my project with much more reserve power than I required.
