Could you fit and adult head in there for a costume?

Yes...but you need to cut the opening with a dremal or rotary tool. There are YouTube vids on how to do it. I made a Deadmau5 head for my daughter, but I could fit my head in it too. But be very careful. Once you cut eyes or a mouth it makes it fragile. I placed mine on a soft pillow with top facing down. Good luck.

I noticed some people said this isn't seamless. Where does this seam go through it?

There is a barely noticeable seam along the equator of the globe. The seam runs horizontally across the globe if you are looking at it when it is resting on the neck.

Is there a flat spot on the globe or is it completely round except for the opening ?

No flat spot on the globe. It's completely round, with the exception of the lip for the opening. Hope this helps.

How clear is the plastic? If I have a small camera inside, how bad is the distortion?

It's clear, but I use it as a light fixture cover replacing the original glass bulb that was broken. It's not as clear as glass and there is a center seam noticeable by eye, but doesn't interfere with function I'm using it for.
