Would the sensor fit my HRM 6 strap?

It will fit any standard HRM chest strap from most manufacturers (Garmin/Wahoo/Polar etc). Including Chinese replacement models. As it uses the near standard 45mm spacing that most brands use. It does of course come with a chest strap included.
