Learning Lenormand: Traditional Fortune Telling for Modern Life

This is a truly excellent book on the Lenormand cards. It is written is a user-friendly style, so interest never flags but its in-depth information on the history and how to work with Lenormand is just great! It is such a useful mine of information which reflects the huge amount of time the authors have obviously spent on researching primary material and resources so that as they say, it is both traditional but has great relevance for modern life. It is especially welcome as there are hardly any books out there on the subject as yet. I am sure you will love this book just as much as I did - don't miss it, the authors have created a gem I or should I say, a star !

Great book. I especially love the exercises, first pairing up the cards, then triplets and finally 'Kaleidoscoping' a meaning merging technique that is really revelatory. I learnt more in that one exercise than in months of reading other books and websites. There are still six more chapters to go! Highly recommended. I am using the newer Rana George Lenormand which Amazon also sell. That got another 5 star review from me.

A very informative and thorough guide to Lenormand. Especially the historical chapter is well written. I don't give it 5 stars only because the card descriptions are a little sparse.

I can see that this book has some negative reviews here on Amazon. Yet, having worked and studied with this book I like the approach that the author's took into writing it. Many books in this field fall into that typical `new age` category. This book (and all the tarot books from both author's) are something different. Many years of experience went into it. Very informative, practical and down-to-earth!

The author seems to have tried a bit too hard with this book. For those who want plain and simple explanations of the cards, this book is not it. Poems and references to by-gone ages are not really what I was looking for. I have already worked with these cards and have another book which I found more to the point. I personally feel the explanations of card meanings can be too convoluted and beginners won't necessarily understand where the authors are coming from. That said, the authors really know their stuff, but have maybe gone too far into the past. As readers we need to move forward and take the images on the cards to new levels. This is just an opinion.

Very very easy to get to grips with fantastic

Found this book hard going. Not user friendly. Luckily I only paid a minimal fee plus postage and since purchasing I have found two really great books relating to modern situations with guidance on timings which are very user friendly. However it does have to be remembered that not all books will apply to all people from a learning point of view.

This book is very enjoyable! It starts off with a special note for Tarot readers, inviting you into the reading style of Lenormand cards-and from there, it takes you right in! First, you learn all about the history of the cards. This section is well-researched, with pictures, source material, and lots of interesting stories and anecdotes! I laughed out loud reading the story called "Casanova and Cartomancy" but I won't give it away! From there, you will go right to the meanings of the cards themselves, with examples and illustrations. If you are brand new, you'll appreciate the advice on choosing a Lenormand deck. From there, you will go straight to simple and then more complex methods for reading and working with the cards. All along the way, you will be treated to photographs, diagrams, examples, snippets of poetry, quotes which help to further illustrate card meanings, and references to loads of books and web sites that you can further look into! This book is full of information and joy. The authors clearly love what they do and it shows. I highly recommend this book!

I like it .. very knowledgeable.

The authors take a very practical approach to Lenormand by separating Skills and Methods and generating the meaning of a layout from the synthesis of very few keywords. This makes learning much easier and gives a much broader perspective. I cannot follow previous comments about this method being non-traditional as, according to what I have access to "The traditional Lenormand Method" never existed. I have been reading cards for many years and trying to learn to read from pure keyword lists is confusing, especially in Lenormand as no two lists are the same. So much für the "folk tradition". In my view the teaching (which is in style what Marcus Katz and Tali Goodwin do, not what others do) is very practical and direct. I will certainly recommend it.

This is a book packed full of great information about Lenormand. Very beneficial to have when studying the Lenormand system.

Achei um livro muito superfical e caótico. As informações não têm um encadeamento lógico de explicação. É bem difícil de entender o que os autores querem passar e muitos dos exemplos de significados não fazem sentido algum.
