VT Bass V2 Pedal

Was looking for a decent crunchy sound for my bass along the lines of a Ricky Bass without having to spend £1400! Too many of the fuzz and overdrive pedals were either too fuzzy or a bit thin. Heard this on a youtube demo and thought it hit the spot. Got it today and had a play around with it. The preset suggestions were still too distorted for me so (clockwise) turned the level up to 3 Character to 10 Drive to 12 Low to 3 high to 12 and mid right down to 9 and hey presto I got a pretty fine Ricky sound a la Chris Squire or Bruce Foxton. What amazed me was the volume and bass tone. The volume is very powerful and the bass ensures the sound will still cut through with balls unlike many pedals when played with the band. As this pedal can be quite bright I would suggest you input through low gain on your amp. Can't comment on how good the fuzz is as I don't really need that level of distortion but if you want a crunchy sound with a genuine tube amp warmth I don't think there is much out there that can compete with this bass pedal

当方、アマチュアベーシストです。でもベースは２０年以上触っています。音源も山ほど聞いています。私も最初はTECH21のbass DIに憧れたクチです。プロはみんな使っているし、音色もかっこいいし。。。でも、YOUTUBEで聞き込んでいくうちに、ワンパターンに思えてきて、音が太くなるのはわかるけど、それしか無いような。。。ちょっと疑問に思ったんです。それでVT BASSを買いました。普段はアンプ直でベースを弾いていて、満足しているので、エフェクター購入は２個目です。TECH21以外のエフェクターも使いましたが、どんなに厳選しても歪みサウンドが耳に刺さる。バンドの中ではそれくらいでなければ埋もれるのかもしれませんが、プロの音を聞いていて、ライブでも耳に刺さるような周波数の音はしません。その点、TECH21の歪みの音は粒が細かくて、音程を失わず、心地いい音がします。で、VT BASSの特徴ですが、キャラクターノブも、ドライブノブも、9時、12時、３時、全開、の４カ所で主に音がかわります。全く歪まないドッシリ系の音から、やや歪み、歪み全開まで、軽く10パターンは音が変えられます。さらに重要なのは、ロー、ミッド、ハイの、イコライザーです。4弦ベースでしか試していませんが、VT BASSのイコライザーは、ローも、ミッドも、ハイも、全ての弦に影響します。なので、エッジを立てた音にしたければ、ハイを2時にしましょう。2弦、1弦の音を太くしたければ、遠慮なくローを増やしましょう。２弦、1弦に、高音を求めるなら、ローと一緒にハイも上げましょう。ローとハイを12時にして、ミッドをグンとあげれば、全弦共に丸みのあるふくよかな音になっていきます。VT BASSは、歪みサウンドを煮詰めていくのも楽しいですが、イコライザーを中心に歪みなしサウンドを煮詰めていくのも楽しいです。また、工具なしでできる電池交換が簡単なのも重要な長所です。1台で2倍美味しいのがVT BASSです。

I love this pedal. I use as a low gain pre-amp for both bass and electric guitar. This pedal does an amazing job emulating a tube amp. I love how my Musicman can do everything from Sunday morning church to metal on with this pedal. The character knob along with the drive knob gives so many different styles. I purchased it after watching Ben Lemelin's review on Youtube. I was even more surprised by this pedal after plugging in my electric guitar. I play a Kiesel 7 string Aries Multiscale and this is the pre-amp that gave me the overdrive distortion I was wanting. The EQ is also amazing. When playing at a small venue I often just play through the house speakers. When doing this, overdrive pedals never give the EQ I was looking for. For the price getting a analog emulated tube pre-amp with this quality of EQ and distortion is amazing. This pedal is super versatile.

want crazy overdrive sound, want a vintage SVT sound, want to add more character to your life, sorry your bass? this is the pedal. the character button is the key for this superb product, can produce the warmest tube sounds to the most overdriven sounds you can imagine, in conjunction with other pedals like the Tech21 Bass Boost Chorus this pedal shines even more giving a huge punch to the effect, I use an Ampeg Ba210 and when using the integrated Scrambler (a cheat way Ampeg imitate the sound of the vintage SVT) and I set the pedal to imitate the SVT sound it becomes a beautiful distortion that must be heard to understand. is more than noise all notes can be heard but with that weird sustain that old tube amps were able to produce. highly recommended for this gigs that required a vintage sound. also the buttons response is amazing, by the slightest touch the effects change (which can be a blessing or a course)

B+ overall, A+ for quality of construction. I find pedals add a lot of noise. The knobs are sensitive, so a little turn makes for a lot of change. This pedal can really "clank" if that is your desired result. I sold this and bought the VT Bass rack instead. I'm rack mounted anyway, so I use the VT Bass rack in combination with the rack mounted Sansamp RPM.
